hman43 (4398) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - FEB 25, 2024UPDATED: FEB 25, 2024 It pours dark brown with a tan head. Head retention is very good. It has some molasses and toffee aromas. It has black strap molasses flavors with some toffee and a bit of spice. It has a medium full body with a somewhat sweet finish. Overall, the flavors are okay.
ironprog (209) - Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2024UPDATED: JAN 15, 2024 12 oz. can, 6.7% ABV, Packaged on: 18OCT23
AROMA: Sweet with strong scents of brown sugar and malt, which is then followed by hints of chocolate and bread.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque dark-brown with a very tall, tan head that dissipates very slowly with excellent lacing. It looks fantastic in a clear, Pilsner glass!
TASTE: Moderately sweet with mild flavors of malt, bread, dark fruit and chocolate. The finish is slightly sweet with a hint of caramel at the very last moment .
MOUTHFEEL: For me, this just edges into the full-bodied classification ... but just barely. The texture is somewhat smooth with average carbonation.
OVERALL: To be honest, when I saw this in the store, I really wasn't expecting much. Especially since I have tried a few other Einstök beers, and found them to be kind of 'blah'. However, I had tired of trying the never ending sea of IPAs and a Dopplebock seemed like a welcome change of pace. Much to my surprise, I found that I greatly enjoyed this beer. It looks great in the glass, has a very pleasing aroma and flavor, which is sweet (but not overly so), and feels nice on the tongue. Is it an outstanding beer? Perhaps not. However, it is the type of beer that doesn't offend on any front, yet still offers something to draw you in. My only 'gripe' is that it's a seasonal beer. If it weren't, then I would happily buy it year round.
This is the kind of beer that, on a cold sunny day, I like to sit outside and sip on because it reminds me of several of my favorite German beers that I imbibe on during Oktoberfest. Prost!
FoamForever20 (2032) - STAVANGER, NORWAY - NOV 13, 2023UPDATED: NOV 13, 2023 Clear copper, small white head. Aroma of wood, varnish, honey. Warm taste of dried fruits, figs, resin, honey. Stylish!

Tastes of bread, malts, chocolate, and nuts. It's not as overwhelming as some doppelbocks on the flavor profile, it's subtle but very nice.

patrick767 (6412) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - JUN 15, 2022UPDATED: JUN 15, 2022 Pours a deep amber brown. It smells of toasted caramel malt with notes of nuts and dark fruit. The flavor is sweet but not overly so with robust caramel and bready malts, nuttiness, and a bit of hops bitterness. Very nice.
