UPDATED: FEB 23, 2024 Can from Beerrepublic.eu. Almost black color with beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, dark chocolate. Taste is dark malt, coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, light caramel. Alcohol is dangerously hidden. Nice.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2023 Black with lasting head. Lots of booze. Dark malts. Roasted bitterness. Dry. Bittersweet treacle.

UPDATED: NOV 18, 2023 Can picked up from Beer Republic webshop, Breda, Netherlands and consumed at home Friday 17th November 2023 playing a selection of funky tracks in the dining room, we had Moqueca (Brazilian Fish Stew) for tea and it was fantastic. Pours shark eye black with a dark beige head. A little bit boozy on the nose, but there is also some maltiness & coffee. Thickness in the mouth, chocolate, liquorice, roasted malt, some bitter cocoa, a little burnt edge, a touch woody, but thick chocolate returns.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2023 Pours black with a two finger, tan head. Aroma is molasses, cocoa, roast and hops. Taste is brown sugar and light chocolate, moving to roast and strong hop backbone. Finish is brown sugar and hops.

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2022 Pours pitch black with a toffee colored head. Aroma of alcohol, coffee, toasted malt. Taste has smokey malt, dates. Palate has pleasant smoked notes, dark cocoa, light spices linger on the tongue. Good.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2020 Black color. Big, beige head. Dark chocolate. Roasted malt, some dark fruits in the aroma. Rich, malty taste with pleasant bitterness at the end.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2020 Silky black pour, tan head. Strong aroma of dark chocolate, molasses, hint of licorice. Taste is similar, with some dark fruit. Full palate, but alcohol is restrained. Bottle from Sarah, aged a couple years.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2020 Slight roast burnt aroma with caramel sweet malt, earthy hop Pours black with small creamy brown head Rich but not overpowering charred wood flavor with light caramel and bready malt and an earthy hop character Medium full bodied with medium co2, lingering burnt wood finish. Reminds me of what it would be like to walk in a saloon in the Wild West. Very manly and rough yet defined.
