beerplace (8770) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 4, 2016On tap at St. Augustine’s. Almost black, weak tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffe with milk, roasted malts. Taste is some berries, roasted malt, dark fruits. Roasted malt, dark fruits aftertaste. Very good.
phaleslu (16507) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 28, 2016Draft at the brewery, served in a flight. Pours a clear deep amber with a beige ring for a head. Notes of chocolate, toast, caramel, light coffee roast, and brown sugar. Light-bodied, with a sweet, malty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Not really a porter. More like a darkish chocolate ale, if I could pretend that’s a style.
mR_fr0g (29048) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2016Draft at the brewpub. Jet black coloured pout with a lasting frothy tan head. Aroma is sour milk, tangy, dry roast coffee. Vanilla. Flavour is composed of milky coffee, light roast, tangy dried fruits. OK. Palate is light and milky, low carbonation / nitro.
IrishBoy (4693) - Bakersfield, California, USA - FEB 17, 2016Draft at Moylan’s. Nose is chocolate, nuttiness, and a hint of roast. Black with a small lightly lacing tan head. Flavor is big and chocolaty with a coffee background.
Holmen2 (8263) - NORWAY - FEB 15, 2016From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 15.02.16. Very dark brown. Brown head. Aroma of chocolate, thin coffee and pine. Similar taste. Fine aftertaste of dark chocolate. Refreshing, but perhaps a bit thin mouthfeel.
gunnar (14335) - Sandnes, NORWAY - FEB 15, 2016On tap at Cardinal. Pours almost pitch black with a small creamy tanned head. Aroma of dark roasted coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Watery mouthfeel , with a weak bitter chocolate and coffee, lingering chocolate.
tandembrauer (2827) - Stavanger, NORWAY - FEB 15, 2016On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours dark brown to black with light brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, dark bread, some fruity notes. Taste is well balanced with some roasty bitterness.
DSG (25798) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - FEB 14, 2016[2/1/16] Draught at Moylan’s Brewery in Novato. Black. Aroma of chocolate, some roast. Sweetish flavor with chocolate, roast, a bit of coffee, bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.
Sigmund (13258) - Tau, NORWAY - FEB 8, 2016On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, low tan head. Nice aroma of chocolate and coffee. Soft mouthfeel, moderate carbonation, fairly light bodied. The flavour is drier than expected, chocolate notes for sure, but no overwhelming sweetness. Also notes of roast malts and coffee, moderate hops.
