UPDATED: FEB 3, 2019 Pours mahogany with a slight head. Aroma is caramel malt with bread. Taste starts sweet and builds to slight spice. Finish is smooth. A decent doppelbock that introduced many to the style.

From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color. Creamy tan head. Rich, roasted malt aroma. Maybe like Boston Baked Beans? Intensely rich roasted malt character. Complex and full bodied with hints of caramel, licorice and currants. Cloyingly long finish . Wonderful, Rich bittersweet aftertaste. Very good.

Bottle from Hickey’s in Milford. Poured into a snifter. A deep purplish-brown color. Frothy tan head settles to a thin lace. Caramel sweet earthy-spice aromas and flavors. Dry bitterness. Quite flavorful. I can’t believe I’ve never tried this legendary brew from Sam Adams. I think this was one of their first offerings after Boston Lager. Groundbreaking history.

Draft to snifter that poured dark mahogany off white small head. Aroma is sweet malt with red pitted fruit. Flavor is decent but a little sticky and syrupy. Red plums is what I am getting with hot alcohol on the back end. Overall kind of light in the body, drinkable But overly sweet

12oz bottle on 13th May 2016 in California while on holiday. Clear deep amber with a red hue, poured into a Corsendonk badged tulip. Semi-sweet malty affair with caramel to the fore, liked it.

reddish brown color; sweet, caramel malty aroma with alcohol notes; sweet caramel malt flavor with notes of dark bread, mollasses, toffee, and alcohol; a bit too sweet in my opinion; a bit syrupy

Double Bock certainly is a malt bomb. Caramel, chocolate, and traces of syrupy dark fruit. Full-bodied and rich. A hell of a lot of alcohol heat.

Cloudy brown copper with a thick creamy tan head. Toasted malt, caramel and toffee aroma. Medium oily, slick body. Very low carbonation. Semi sweet flavor with malt bitterness. Alcohol forward flavor. Persistent nutty bitter aftertaste with lasting warmth of alcohol.

Bottle I have had for about a year. Plenty of caramel and toffee. Light brown with a nice head. Obviously for slow drinking,.
