COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: It’s a beer that’s been thought about for quite some time – actually since the brewers first visit to Sherbrooke Liquor in Edmonton, AB, Canada a few years back, and finally I did it – I manned up and did it! After a whole freaking day of brewing coffee for this beer I can truly say it is Craft. If not devoted to the product who in their right mind would brew hundreds of litres of coffee for a beer? The result is a big and bold smooth Porter with discrete vanilla and coffee notes.
Hops: Magnum, Nelson Sauvin Malts: Pilsner, Caramel, Rye, Oats, Chocolate, Black, Vanilla and coffee.

Graby (145) - Bø, NORWAY - OCT 22, 2021
UPDATED: OCT 22, 2021 Draught at Carlsens Kvarter Opaque black with a dark brown head. Incredibly intense aroma of cocoa, chocolate, and lactose. Intense, wonderful, and deep taste. Starts off very roasted, deep notes of coffee, complimented by figs, brown sugar. Vanilla might play a role in the balance, but I cannot pick it out. Deep and oily texture. Very nice and a definite recommendation. 10-5-9-5-18

Idiosynkrasie (16052) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUL 15, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2020 330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish, fruity hoppy, slightly roasty, dark malty and minimally spicy aroma, notes of coffee, some orange, vanilla, a touch of toffee, minimally waxy hopy overtones; absurdely a slight muesli character (fruit and cereals) overall. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally sugary, dark malty, fruity hoppy, notes of coffee, hints of dark chocolate, orange, a touch of toffee, vanilla; well hidden alcohol. Creamy texture, smooth and soft palate, soft, foamy carbonation. Well crafted, not really harmonious.

rand (3450) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 25, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2019 Black beer with a short brownish head with big bubbles. Aromas of ground coffee, dark choc, vanilla, roasted and licorice. Not too cold, the taste is roasted, with toast and coffee, licorice, vanilla, the whole with full-bodied and intense bitter. The final falls a little, notes of alcohol and fruity. Fat beer but without excess sweet.

nathanvc (5934) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 2, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2019 Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde, Sint-Niklaas - many thanks, Anke! Pours hazy black with a lasting, small, foamy, beige head. Aroma of chocolate powder, mocha, 'raw' vanilla, toast, black pepper, fig, macadamia. Taste is light to medium malty sweet, chocolate & biscuit with a subtle touch of vanilla, quite bitter coffee & fondant chocolate next to toasty & herbal accents, black tea-like, vaguely umami, dim sourish fruits underneath. Dryish, toasty, earthy hoppy finish, more chocolate, coffee roast & 'raw' vanilla, a bit woody, hidden alcohol (coffee liqueur). Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Lots of different flavours going on but in the end not very intense. Vanilla remains subtle.

PlutonowyMan (2201) - Baardegem, BELGIUM - JUN 9, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2019 Kolor prawie czarny z rubinowym prześwitem u podstawy czaszy kieliszka. Piana jasno brązowa, wysoka na około 2 cm nietrwała. Topnieje do cienkiego kożucha. W aromacie kawa z jej palonością, delikatna słodycz, podobnie odrobina słodkiej wanilii i orzechów. Dobrze ukryty alkohol to duży plus. Wysycenie średnie do niskiego. pełnia raczej średnia.

Alengrin (11018) - Gent, BELGIUM - OCT 16, 2018
Danish imperial porter flavoured with coffee and vanilla, longneck bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Thick and moussy, pale brownish-beige, membrane-lacing but slowly thinning and breaking head over black beer with hazy mahogany edges. Aroma of lots of black coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, burnt toast, roasted walnuts, mocha ice cream, light vanilla bean accent but not as exuberant as I was hoping for, hazelnut oil, dried dates, tea, soy sauce. Dried plum sweetishness in the onset with sourish and umami notes reminiscent of elderberry and porcini respectively, softish carb, very walnutty-toasty and bitter chocolatey malt middle with toffeeish edges resulting in a pleasant combination of bitterness and sweetness, oily mouthfeel but a bit thinner than expected for a beer of this strength; strong black coffee-like roasted bitterness in the finish, roasted chicory, peppery hop accent, coffee apparent but not really aromatic, more a dull roasted bitterness accentuating the roasted grains; remains toasty-nutty in its main profile, with some warming but well-positioned alcohol, the vanilla however remains understated and too subtle for being advertised so explicitly on the label. More a hefty stout than a true imperial porter, not enough vanilla and actual coffee fragrance, but in itself a very solid black beer.
