PowY (4562) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - MAR 24, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 24, 2019 From tap at Mise en Biere, Lausanne. Very dark mahogany color with a tan colored finely pored head. Very spicy aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, cloves, toffee and nuts. Medium to medium-full body with a light to medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor is medium roasty with lots of spices, chocolate, cacao, some dark fruits, raisins, lots of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Finishes with lots of cinnamon, bitter spices, cocoa and chocolate. Too much spices for my liking - the spices are all over the place, unbalanced. Aroma: 7 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Palate: 4 Overall: 12

Frothmeister (900) - Ontario, CANADA - OCT 13, 2018
12 oz bottle in the cellar for about a year. Pours dark brown with barely any light getting through and a considerable amount of yeast sediment with a orange/tan cap. Smells delicious, and pretty darn complex. Dark roast coffee, a prominent note that makes me think "Rogue Hazelnut Brown", cocoa, cinnamon, caramel, an almost faint-bourbon barrel finish, and molasses. Smells like a spiced molasses loaf! Taste wise light sweetness, and surprisingly bitter with molasses up front and mineral bitterness on top of the spice and roasty malt notes that head into sweeter cocoa/molasses notes, and then the opening up of the spice that continues into the bitter finish. It's solid. I wouldn't want a tonne, but it's pleasant.

From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark brown, almost black, with cream colored foam, fine. Aroma is caramel and malty. Body is fairly dense with medium carbonation, tongue-touching. Taste is pretty sweet, with a moderate bitterness. Finish is long and sweet.

mjs (11411) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 6, 2018
(Keg at Sori Taproom, 20180106) The beer poured deep reddish brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and nearly white. Aroma had malts, caramel and berries. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, berries, caramel, tartness and bitterness. Aftertaste had berries, tartness and bitterness. A bit messy brew. I failed to understand why this was brewed.

piraat83 (161) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - DEC 25, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2017 Pours a reddish black with a muddy white head. Malty with a heavy nutmeg/cinnamon spice flavor. Like biting into a boozy gingerbread house. What else would you want from a Christmas Ale?
