Goodgrief (2858) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - SEP 15, 2023
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2023 Can. Man, dark as night pour, with dark froth! Aroma of coffee, ash. Sweet cocoa, vanilla and coffee. Rich thick ashy mouthfeel. Real nice. It’s sweet, but I feared it would be moderately sickly. It isn’t. Great beer.

Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing. Poured in a red solo cup. Smells like chocolate. Lots of chocolate, some coffee notable. Really, really sweet but shockingly drinkable. Not sure how they did it. I’m sort of impressed. But a bottle split among 4 is about the right serving size.

caribou43 (3069) - SWITZERLAND - AUG 18, 2023
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2023 This big bottle is coming from the sterk, Amsterdam. Opening it and savouring this creamy nectar, two days ago, at home, Epalinges. The body is deeply black, white and brown foam, light carbonation, normal for the style. A powerful imperial stout, really smooth and sweet, syrupy, roasted malt, note of pancake, toffee, vanilla, light touch of coffee, some discreet flavour of hop and bitterness at the final, boozy, intense aroma some sweet and more mineral phases, really good, to drink step by step.

Miły (1088) - Kielce, POLAND - MAR 7, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2021 Data puszkowania: 11/15/17 r. Wygląd: Barwa czarna, nieprzejrzysta. Piana brązowa, średniowysoka, głównie drobnopęcherzykowa, opada do ostatniej warstwy pozostawiając lekki lacing. Alkohol niewyczuwalny. W ustach słodkie, ale nieprzesadzone. Treściwość średnia, gładka i oleista, wysycenie niskie.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2021 (Bottle) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, black coffee, black rye bread, ashes, prunes, caramel, treacle, prunes, tamarind and some vanilla (sprinkles on top). Malty, roasted taste with coffee, cocoa, black rye bread, prunes, liquorice, caramel, toffee, a touch of tamarind and a balanced cocoa bitterness in the finish. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Not at all as artifical and sweet as I feared. Really tasty, complex and quite powerful. Very nice.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2020 Bottle from Etre Gourmet, served at home in a snifter glass. Black colour, medium beige head with short retention. No lacing. Aroma of chocolate, cognac, molasses, notes of raisins, licorice and almonds. I can´t find coffee. Medium body, sticky creamy texture, flat carbonation. Taste follows the aroma. Interesting but I really expected some more.

jgb9348 (10811) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - AUG 18, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2020 Ridiculously rich dark brown, and almost an oily black glow, all with a fairly thick, three centimetre tall rich brown head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of strong vanilla, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, earth, molasses and purely burnt sugars with a funky kick of mushrooms, soy sauce and some deep earthy, umami notes that don't really hint of fried dough or sugar, but rather that of fried meats or mushrooms. Full-bodied; Deep and strong pure sweetness from molasses, toffee, treacle, plums, prunes, figs and some of the smaller notes of fried donuts theoretically comes out, but just in terms of caramelised sugars with some oil and lipid notes. Aftertaste shows the deep malts with a rich body of the roasted malt along with some earthier, nuttier and definitely sweet grainy notes that has some bitterness, but more of the sweetness coupled with a pastry-like and vanilla-y bite at the end that shows more of a finish of sugars and malts than deeper alcohol and burnt malt notes that give the idea that a light aging and some tempering of the pungency has worked a touch. Aftertaste shows the pungent malts and pure sweetness with some softer vanilla, icing sugar and especially pitted fruit notes with still some noticeable alcohol, grain and especially meatier and mushroomy pungencies at the end. Overall, a deep and super strong beer, even after two years of aging, which probably was expected at 11,5 per cent alcohol, but the sugars, malt and especially meatier and umami notes persist and don't let up, even with all the softer lactose, icing sugar and vanilla notes which are still picked up. I sampled this sixteen ounce (even hard to get THIS one down!) can purchased from Whole Foods in New York, New York (TriBeCa) on 13-August-2018 for US$7,99 sampled at my house here in Washington, just over two years later on 17-August-2020.
