Commercial Description:
Black Out Stout uses a blend of 10 specialty malts to produce this intensly black ale. It is velvety smooth and finishes with a huge explosion of lingering roasted malt. It is a total eclipse of a beer.

Growlerout of the tap that afternoon. Very dark but not quite opaque. Small light tan head and sparse lacing. Flavor is plain dark roasted notes and tasted slightly of coffee. Rather thin feel and an odd slightly sour biterness at the end. Just so-so

Pours a nice jet black color, with a creamy reddish brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and smoke. Flavor is a nice blend of coffee and chocolate with a nice bitter smoke aftertaste.

Very dark brown with glints of amber when held to a light. Thick fine-particle head that lasts. Served quite cold at the brewery, but even when cold the aroma was strong burnt malts with hints of choclate. As it warmed roasted marshmallows started to take shape as did dried strawberries and earthy tones. Sweet with an earthy burnt finish and burnt fruit lingered. Quite smooth and full-bodied. Great stout.

Roasted chocolate nose. Dark, dark pour, no lights getting through there. Lots of choclate and coffe flavors. Very heavy palate, yet good. Very good stout

Pours a dark black color, decent retentive head. The nose is roasty with a bit of lactose and smoke, not overly assertive with some astringency and fruity cherry notes. The flavor is creamy and balanced with a good amount of roast and very little hop essence. Not too bad, a bit of licorice and coffee flavors in the finish. I’ve had this when it was great and when it was aweful. Perhaps it’s my palate, but this time it was real.
