ShaneJ (917) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 7, 2015Bottle from Slowbeer (August 2013). Inky black, minimal tan head, smoky, salty/briney, coffee, molasses, full body, slippery texture, boozy finish. Nice, held up well (best before June 2014!).
Countbeer (6586) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - JUN 14, 2015Bottle: Thanks Owen: Served in a shaker:
Black beer. Thick vast creamy beige light brown head.
Aromas of chocolate, prunes, soft roast, hint of flowers, light malt and coffee roast...
Flavours of chocolate, mocha, bitters, light roast, light dry, some coffee roast, light earthy, light nuttyy, light toffee, light spice...
Aftertaste is malty and roasty with some alcohol/spice kicking it and some earthy chocolate tints. Don’t forget the bitters...
Low carbo, silky mouthfeel, between medium and full, more towards full bodied.
jonno (2750) - WESTERN SAHARA - FEB 14, 2014Rock solid RIS with a few nice touches to give it a unique character. A touch brinny and estery melding with the smooth body and moderately expressed chocolate and roast flavours. Not an arnie, more like a vin diesel. Well rounded and hiding the ABV pretty well.
TimE (8459) - Tokyo, JAPAN - DEC 13, 2013Dark brown color. Intense tobacco, molasses, dark chocolate, dark fruit, fairly smokey. Lovely intense nose. The mouth is medium full with lots of brownies and molasses notes. Mouth is a bit weak, but I love the smokiness and roasted malts. Nice brininess and a touch salty. Really lovely. Nice lingering roasted malty finish with moderate bitterness. The yeast is a bit funky Belgian, but nothing too wild, which works well. The nose is fantastic and the rest of the beer is very good.
tp35282 (1518) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - NOV 11, 2013Tap @ The Taphouse. Very dark brown with a well retained medium sized tan head. Chocolate and hints of the sea on the nose. Flavours of dark chocolate, bread, coffee and a wonderful savoury element introduced by the oysters and mussels. Wonderful smooth mouthfeel, slightly oily and considering it sits at 10% the alcohol is well integrated. Great beer.
stoutnick (847) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - NOV 2, 2013Aroma is salty sea water. Taste is the same with very persistent seafood saltiness now. Syrupy. Bit too much for me. Briney sickly. But the best of its kind of the beers I’ve tried.
mkel07 (10893) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 10, 2013330ml bottle from Archive. Nothing but goodness comes from this bottle. Thick pitch black looking with a rich and smooth full mouthfeel. Awesomeness in every mouthful.
StevieT (2007) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 21, 2013Pours thick and black with a off white head, laces well. Strong flavours of burnt caramel and coffee. Love it
maneliquor (3513) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - SEP 8, 2013Bottle cheers to Owen. Pours black with a small tan head and spotty lacing. Nose shows that sea saltiness I’ve come to expect from oysters with quite a lingering smokiness to it without being too over the top. Sweet salty dark chocolate comes through as well. More so in the taste. Heavier chocolate focus than smoke with salt and beach kind of notes. Oddly works well. Belgian yeast character never really shines. Solid beer
gnoff (11277) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 21, 2013Draught as part of a tasting paddle at Rubber Duckie Taphouse, Sydney, on July 14, 2013.
Described as an "Oyster mussel stout", collaboration with The Crafty Pint.
Black color, dark brown head. Sweet, roasted, salty, alcohol taste. Roasted, chocolate, alcohol aftertaste. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, medium to medium high bitterness. Warming alcohol. Sweet, alcohol, sea, salty scent.
