COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Formerly 7.4% when brewed at Solana Beach location.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2024 Can grabbed at the liquor store in Irvine post Hangar 24. Not much else can be written about this beer. It’s a fantastic example of a medium bitter west coast IPA. Pretty much a classic.

UPDATED: OCT 29, 2023 16 oz. can purchased from Westside Taphouse in West Salem Oregon. Canned 07/06/2023. Pours a nice clear golden coloured body with a lovely looking thick and frothy white head. a kinda fruity semi tropical hop aroma and some basic malts. Simple. Taste is hoppy but mellow. Getting grapefruit, then strawberries and some fresh spruce tip among other stuff. Tasty. Mouth feel is very good well carbonated and yet smooth. Long bitter after taste which I enjoy in an IPA. A good beer and happy to have tried it.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2023 16 oz from the Beer Advocate West Coast IPA box. Aroma is piney, left out dish rags, crackery malt. Pours slightly hazy sunshine golden with a two finger soapy white head with great retention. Taste has a high pithy bitterness with a light Smarties-esque candy sweetness and hints of coconut in the background. This old school highly bitter West Coast IPA is really hitting the spot right now.

eslyter (15) - Portland, OR, USA - JUL 5, 2022
UPDATED: JUL 5, 2022 A mostly bitter and spicy IPA with a slight sweetness and that almost sulfur-like scent and taste i often detect in hazy IPAs, but rarely in IPAs of this clarity. To be honest, it's just not within my favorite flavor profile for IPAs, but i think for those that enjoy the less sweet and...funkier?...varieties will find this selection to be pretty mild and enjoyable in quantities of more than one. At 6.8% abv, it comes across less strong than i would expect.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2022 Very clear golden and light yellow coloured body with a thinnish, pure white head, about a single centimetre tall that stays afloat nicely. Aroma of yeast, bread, light citrus fruit and a good deal of sugars here. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and bready notes show at first with a lot of hay and floral elements with a touch of pine and candy with a yeastie and wheatie finish towards the end. Aftertaste is pretty clean with some slight citrus and grassy notes all on top of the relatively strong alpha acid bitterness from the hops that is noticeable throughout. Overall, a nice, rich and flavorful IPA with a lot of characteristics, especially for the style that hits nicely and brings out a slight bitterness from the hops here. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Trader Joe's in Fairfield, California on 07-March-2022 for US$2,09 sampled in my hotel room here in [downtown] San Francisco, California on 07-March-2022 just a few hours later while enjoying the city here.
