Draught at Maguire’s, Burgh Quay, Dublin. Attractive copper red with a dense cream head; weak fruity aroma; thin body with some sweet malty flavours and a sweet finish. Looks great - but it’s downhill from there on.

[2142-20090515] Tap. Sweet floral yeast aroma with a touch of honey or toffee. Clear, amber orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. More floral sweet yeast in the flavour with a long yeasty aftertaste. Medium body is smooth and a little watery. Drinkable, good.

2009-05-15. Dark amber - copper body with a modest beige head. Flavour has an interesting malty profile, tangy, light bitterness throughout, creamy finish with mild malt lingering. (6+) Aroma is mild but pleasant, light malt, sweet caramel touches over slightly drier malt, mild hops. (6+) Average palate is smooth. (3+) Overall impression is Kilkenny-esque but better. Enjoyable but on the mild side. On tap at the brewpub.

Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 19/03/09. Appealing, reddish amber in colour, with a moderate, off-white head. Sweet, caramel and dough aroma with a whiff of red berries. Flavour was cloyingly sweet, with heaps of barley sugar and crystallised fruit. One pint was enough.

Clear red brown coloured beer with some very little carbonation and an average creamy white head. Fruity sweet caramel (strawberry?) aroma. Full palate. Finish is light bitter fruity with a light yeasty ending. Nice one.
