Mr.Spooks (4972) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 5, 2017Once again I’m drinking an Imperial IPA of indeterminate age, so I have no clue if the massive caramel malt front is by design or simply the product of an extended stay on the shelf. Hops are apparent, but they serve mostly as an accent piece, adding orange and berry notes around the periphery of the brown sugar and toast from the malt. Rye pops up with a earthy spiciness on the back end, while the fade grows piney and barleywine-ish. Tasty regardless. Pours a hazy dark brown-red with a beige head and healthy amounts of lace. Nose is caramel, rye, and pine. Not a trace of alcohol in the oily, spicy texture. Nice pint. I’d love to try it fresh.

hopscotch (11919) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - FEB 17, 2017Draft... This beer rocks!… Deep, dark, dirty-orange pour with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is rindy and lightly musky - grapefruit rind and underarm. Full-bodied with jazzy carbonation. In the flavor, rich malts are outshone by acrid and citrusy hop bitterness. Lengthy, tongue-numbing, lightly bitter finish. World-class beer!
JPDIPSO (6618) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 3, 2017Dark copper color with a moderate/stable light tan head. Aromas of green hops, rye, pale malts and hint of lactose. Slick rye body. Quick sweet start. Rye spice and hops quickly attack. Some light fruit notes. Finish is lightly buttery. Solid rye. 6/14
john44 (4849) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 10, 2017Bottle. Deep Copper in colour with Reddish hints. Small off-white head. Very Hoppy; rather intense piney resinous hops. Fruity; grapefruit and orange citrus. Quite spicy. Malty; heavily malted, grainy spicy rye malts, caramel. Bitter hoppy and citrus fruity meets sweet malts. Increasingly hoppy and dry into the finish. Liked this. Intensely hoppy Imperial Rye IPA! (2015-10-09)
willisread (7331) - Detroit, Michigan, USA - JAN 9, 2017Bottle from J’s. No date, but probably old judging on the most recent ratings on here. Pours a murky burgundy with a half finger of head that dissipates quickly. Tangerine and grapefruit aromas dominate the nose with a touch of peach and lemon. Full-bodied and chewy on the palate, syrupy, bready biscuity malts. Carbonation is muted at this point. More tangerine and honey marmalade. Finishes smooth with a lingering honey stickiness and peppery rye. Really held up pretty well for probably a year old.
