Dark brown, black pour. Some chocolate roast and light coffee. A really old bottle, but it is still pretty damn good.

Finally the last of the unplugged series. Dark brown. This has held up fairly well. Lightly toasty and some sweetness.

12 oz bottle. Rating #172. Black pour with a small tan head. Light chocolate roast with a nice little roast. Mild roast and dark chocolate flavor, light bitterness with a roasty aftertaste and light coffee. (2756)

Bottle shared by STLWill. Thanks Will! Pours dark with no head. Aroma is soy, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is chocolate, soy, coffee and brown sugar. Medium bodied with little to no carbonation. Has a nice silky smooth finish. Has held up pretty well for being 8 years old.

My 2800th rating. 169 for this beer. 12 oz. bottle shared by STLWill- thanks a ton, Will! Will initially thought this was a 2005 bottle, but 2003 appears to be when this was released. Pours an opaque, smooth, deep brown with a tiny beige ring. Carbonation appears to be gone. Aroma of roasted malts, cocoa powder, molasses, soy, cola, and only the faintest trace of oxidation. Flavof of soy, chocolate, molasses, caramel malts, earth, coffee, and toasted brown sugar. Light-to-medium-bodied, with minimal carbonation and a smooth, sweet, and only mildly roasty mouthfeel. Down, but not out.

Bottle generously shared by BenC...thanks Ben! - Pours deep and dark with a thin tan head. A bit of booziness on the nose, with sweet dark malt, hints of molasses, smoke, charcoal, and a decent amount of sweetness. Not terribly pungent. Taste is a bit ashy, subdued, and drier than the nose. Finishes with the same booziness and some sweet dark bready malt. Fairly thin, especially for a imperial stout. Just like the Triple before this, my guess is this is way past its prime.

Bottle. From 2003 I believe. Pours a deep black color with a very minimal head, swirling causes a tan head to form. Dark grain type aroma with a touch of dark fruit, very un-imperial stout smelling. Medium mouthfeel and light than I would have expected for this style. The taste is very mild as well with no real strong tastes of coffee, roast, or dark chocolate. I get a slight soy taste and smell as well. Not a beer that I would recommend at this point. More like a dark lager than anything.

3/03/2010: New Glarus Unplugged Imperial Stout... Aroma: Not much to speak of save some light dark chocolate notes; maybe some Tootsie Roll. Appearance: Dark ruby-brown color; minimal carbonation; fleeting surface bubbles. Flavor: Cola, weak citrus and darkly carmelized malts; weak chocolate; sweetness has taken over and depth and complexity has faded; mineral quality in the middle; no alcohol showing whatsoever; sweet coffee finish (almost like coffee-flavored hard candy); grows on me with each sip. Palate: Medium, thinned out. Overall: Decent beer, but well-past its glory days... nice finish though.

The aroma is mild all around and contains dark fruits, chocolate, and some roasted malts. The flavor has some sweet malts early, chocolate, dark fruits with a bitterness that comes and goes. Medium bodied; it is still drinkable, but this is on the downward side unfortunately. rating #165 for this beer.
