Shared at the Prairie Everything Dark/Kill Your Liver Extravaganza at Jeff’s House on July 1. 12 oz bottle, vintage 2014. The pour is a darker brown/light black color with a darker brown head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma is full of dark fruit, and then a heavy whiskey takes over. Damn. There is a lighter chocolate and a hint of chili pepper on the back end, but the whiskey and wet barrel controls this one throughout. The flavor is much of the same. The chocolate and light fruitiness are interesting and the whiskey just dominates. The oak offers a little vanilla and a hint of messy pepper. The mouth feel is pretty decently medium bodied with a sharper carbonation and a lingeringly fruity malt and a hint of pepper on the back end before the alcohol creeps in. This is a bit messy. 7 4 7 4 15

Bottle shared at the Prairie Stout Extravaganza. Aroma is whiskey, barrel, roasted malt, chilies, chocolate, vanilla, good. Appearance is dark dark brown head, brown head, poured thickish. Taste is whiskey, roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, chili heat, good. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light, almost flat carbonation, roasted malt and chili heat aftertaste. Overall, it may be slightly past its prime but it’s still nice.

Saved for Super Bowl. Worth the wait. Most variations of Bomb have only diminished the greatness of the Bomb but this version is on par with the original with the barrel aging bringing wonderful new taste without taking away all the complexities of the Bomb.

Bottle thanks to Wickedestman. Aroma of dark chocolate, molasses and alcohol. Taste of espresso, dark chocolate, brown sugar, dry wood, Armagnac and other warming alcohol. Sharp, dry mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Aroma is very roast forward and is accentuated my the whiskey notes. Medium oak notes. Quite a bit of charred oak. Light chocolate and adjunct notes. Hints of alcohol. More cinnamon and peppers than the other adjuncts. Pours black with a medium small, thick, mocha head that exhibits pretty nice retention. No lacing and moderate legs. Flavor has a good moderately strong chocolate note with some medium light roast. Medium light charred oak notes. Moderate sweetness and adjunct notes. More cinnamon than peppers and vanilla. A bit of pepper spice in the finish along with some alcohol. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice stout, but I think I like the regular Bomb! better. The Balcones barrels just add too much char that accentuates all the roast notes. I also feel like the cinnamon is stronger in this batch than in some of the regular ones.

Aroma is boozy and coffee. Sweet tasting, strong, some whiskey, and coffee. Best beer of the night so far. Pours dark brown with a light thin head.

Tap @ Himmeriget. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of nice roasted coffee, weak vanilla, sweet liquorice, whiskey which gives it a gentle smokey note. Also some roasted malts, cocoa beans and chocolate. The taste has roasted malts, chocolate and some chili heat. Also some very gentle smoked notes from the whiskey, coffee, cocoa beans and sweet liquorice. Nice and different barrel aged stouts which apart from being whiskey barrel aged is subtle on the smoke - which is a plus for me!

12 oz. bottle shared by Homer321- thanks again, Sean! Another Want slayed on the last night of Hyatt lobby fart shares over RBWG 2016. This is the OG Balcones BA Bomb. Pours a dark coffee brown with small tan head that settles into a ring, leaving spots of lace in the glass. Great aroma. Fudge, vanilla, oak, brownies, bourbon - smooth and balanced. The flavor is surprisingly bland. Oaky and dry, with tobacco; the rest of the sweetness and roast emerges more as it warms. Light-medium bodied, with a dry, sweet, oaky mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Not bad, but another underwhelming Bomb offering.

On tap at Himmeriget. It’s a pitch black beer with a creamy dense head. The aroma is loads of chocolate and roasted malts with coconut and vanilla notes. Quite roasted flavor with a great load of chocolate and vanilla. Woody and hoppy notes. Lovely!
