Idiosynkrasie (16052) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - JUN 29, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2020 330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark brown colour with ruby shimmer and small, creamy, settling, afterwards mostly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Caramel malty aroma, notes of caramel, dark caramel, minimally woody, oaky overtones of red wine, Port, Marsala, Sherry, blue grapes, spicy whiffs of marmite. Taste is dry, woody, minimally tart-ish, tannic, oaky, caramel malty and vinous fruity, notes of caramel, dark caramel with very low residual sweetness, hints of blue grapes, blackcurrant, red wine, a touch of Port, Marsala, dry Sherry. Oily-watery texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate (no tacky sweetness, rather lingering dryness on a dark caramel basis), fine and soft carbonation. Obviously well matured (cellared for more than five years), superbly balanced, well controlled sweetness, matching dry and tart-ish, tannic woody and fruity counterparts. Dangerously drinkable - very good! Btw. I love the shape of these bottles - but this idiosyncratic aspect doesn't inform my rating.

corkyrory66 (6646) - BELGIUM - AUG 7, 2018
Bravo Napar.
