Dull reddish brown beer with a small dirty-cream coloured head. Minus 1 point for the useless, annoying and pretentious hard red wax. Very vinous, with a pinch of acetic acid. Bit of brown sugar, old wet wood, rotting red fruit. Bitterish-woody, alcoholic, fusely and again brown candi sugar. This, I might hope not for masking more acidity... Again overripe red fruit, old wine, Madeirisation. Alcoholheat, slick, bit alcohol- & acidthinning. Medium carbonation all the same. Bit classical vinous barley wine. But none the worse for it. Just that silly wax... 7/3/8/4/15

A hazed murky dark amber Barley Wine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with loads of vinous character, light maple syrup, light vanilla, alcohol warmth, nice. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with loads alcohol warmth, treacle, vanilla fudge, sucre à la crème, dark fruits, way too much sweetness. On tap at vices et versa.

La Houblouniere, Toulouse, France. Pours medium dark honey/amber mead with a tiny rim persisting. Scent is very light notes of floral. Taste is lovely dense mead notes with light saison like properties on the sour end. Finish is a bit sticky. Very good.

Shared 375 ml. bottle @ Post-Pre-Borefts Ratebeer Tasting 2016. Ridiculous wax, this is like what pure plastic? Great label. Dark amber, little tanned head. Nose is sweet oxidized leaves, basic sweet sugar & matls, tad much oxidation, very basic boozy cognac. Taste is cooked apple, sugar, sugar, leaves, oxidation, very basic, big empty with cheap cognac. Body is syrup, sugar & some oxidation. Bit too simple & basic, decent & nice but expected more to be honest.
