COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
East Coast Common is a nod to those uniquely American lager beers – fermented warm, in the San Franciscan-style. One sniff of the heady aroma tells you this isn’t a utilitarian, washing machine-variety beer. Our brewers infuse significant quantities of late-in-the-boil and post-fermentation dry hops to make sure you know East Coast Common is a New England original.
We originally brewed East Coast Common at Smuttlabs with our friends and neighbors Stoneface Brewing Company and Great Rhythm Brewing Company, to commemorate 2015’s Portsmouth Beer Week. We’re pleased to bring it back for a wider, hop-hungry audience.

Draught. Pours gold with a small off-white head. Aroma is toffee, toast, some sweet melon, and bubblegum. Taste is toast, earth, bubblegum, light toffee, some pine, and a little yeast. Finishes a little messy with slight yeast and an earthy spice bitterness. Very bitter. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Creamy, outstanding mouthfeel. Sort of APA-ish.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2018 This lager smells like malt or malt balls.this reminds me of my home brewing days when I used malt extract. This has a nice unfiltered light amber color to it. This is medium to full bodied beer. The first sip is very malt forward, and there is an odd tang to this first sip. A touch of bitterness on the aftertaste. Notes of cooked bananas. Different than most lagers I have tried, a very filling and fulfilling beer.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy amber orange color. Small creamy beige head. Toasted malt nose has earthy, fruity notes. Bittersweet malt flavor has notes of pineapple and rustic bread. Sharp, spicy notes in middle. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Citrusy, herbal hop finish.

Pours cloudy copper with a foamy white head and a lot of lacing. The aroma is malt and bread. The flavor is slightly bitter with a big malt backbone. It just reminds me of a solid pale ale with a very nice mouthfeel. It's pretty good but dry hops aren't really my thing!

A little overrated. Goes well with the summer and doesn't overwhelm food but also doesn't stick out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This bottled brew from a bottle shop was served at a cool temperature and poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized bright white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a typically carbonated body slightly hazy orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering mild hoppy aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

Not really a common at all, strictly speaking, in flavor. Probably why it’s good. Lots of orange flavored hops. Relatively bitter. Bottle.

Rated on 6-07-2017. (Bottle) The appearance is a medium sized ivory head that is mostly lasting, hazy golden body, lively, fast rising carbonation observed, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, light pine hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, orange, sweet, floral hops, caramel, and malt. The flavor presents moderate bitterness, citrus hops, tropical fruit, grapefruit, lemon, spicy, some ABV, caramel, malt, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. This is an excellent beer and tastes more like an IPA than a CC styled beer. It is a very refreshing beer with a light bitter finish. It is an enjoyable beer to not only drink, but to rate. It is a beer that I would definitely purchase again and again. Thanks Smuttynose for a very good brewed beer!! Cheers!

Draught @ Albion. Clear rich yellow with small frothy off-white head, malt aroma with a hint of hops, medium carbonation, medium bitter hoppy malt taste, thin body, long bitter dry finish. Interesting brew, felt like an extra hopped Dortmunder.

Bottle from Frank Smith’s. Pours turbid golden with white head. Nose is hops, resin, tangerine, mango. Tastes very hoppy, resiny, black pepper, mango. Tastes more like an IIPA that common.
