COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This West Coast-Style India Pale Ale is extravagantly hopped, full flavored, medium bodied and copper colored. A menagerie of hops is combined throughout the brewing process to impart specific characteristics. Hops used include Simcoe for a unique fruitiness and grapefruit zest, Columbus for strong hop pungency, Centennial for pine and citrus notes, and Cascade for floral aroma. Editor’s Note: Brewed until 2013 and from 2019 onwards. Formerly 7.1% If you had the 8.1% abv version marketed since 2014 as a Double India Pale Ale, this is the wrong beer page. Please rate under Green Flash West Coast IPA (2014 -).

colui72 (4897) - Sassari, ITALY - NOV 7, 2023
UPDATED: NOV 7, 2023 A classic West Coast IPA from the West Coast IPA world capital. Brewed with 6 hops (including the quintessential Simcoe, Centennial, Columbus and Cascade). On the nose: pine needles, grapefruit zest, citrus pulp, floral notes. Ale and caramel malts are fragrant and go along the hop aromas perfectly. Clean fermentation. Pours clear amber, a very creamy ivory head with high retention and beautiful lacing. Bitter, damn bitter, old school IPA, hop forward but with a great malty backbone to balance. Hops deliver grapefruit zest, citrus, mango, pine. Malts blend in a hint of caramel. Clean and smooth. Medium body and carbonation, minor hop-burn, easy to drink. A very WCIPA WCIPA! Ticks all boxes, smooth, bitter, balanced.

drpimento (7530) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 9, 2023
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2023 7% abv. Aromas are good pine resin with a little amber malt and a hint of citrus. Flavor is somewhat similar to nose with excellent balance between bitter, sweet and carbonation. Bitter edges out the others. Slightly soft mouth. Really glad Green Flash is back in this market.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2023 12 oz can. Smells of grapefruit and pine with a hint of malt. Like a 'true IPA'. Clear and lighter amber in color. Nice malt and hop balance. Getting slightly sweet malts followed by a grapefruit pith and pine resin. Bitter finish with a hint of sweetness from the malt. Very nice example of the style!

KevinReddirt (1809) - Midland, Texas, USA - MAR 9, 2022
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2022 12 oz can purchased at Mr. T's locally and chilled for a tasting. I make the pour into my ABGB snifter to see a dark orange body finished with an eggshell brown top of foam that slowly dwindles. The nose is attractive, pine, orange and a bit of grain. I lift the glass and take a drink. It strikes me as firmly old-school, glad to get one occasionally. Lemons, tons of hoppiness, varnish, white bread, resin and just a bit of sweetness. Lots of bitterness, nice throughout.
