[8313-20160520] Cask. Roasted light coffee and boozy resinous aroma. Slightly hazy, dark dark red brown body with a quick foamy tan head. Boozy roasted coffee and sweet nutty grains flavour. Medium-full body. Average. (7/4/6/3/13) 3.3~

2016-05-20. Brown body, modest beige head. 3+ Aroma is really interesting, interesting melange of coffee, cocoa and malt. 7+ Flavour has malty core with a very English style impression. Subtle toffee and treacle character. Average bodied palate, soft to low carbonation. A solid take on the style that I might score higher another day or in a different mood. 7/3/7/3/14-15 On cask at The Twisted Hop, Christchurch, NZ.

Draft. Colour of Coca Cola with thin cream-coloured head. Delicious sweet coffee-chic aroma. Slightly bitter-sweet caramel flavour. Easy drinking, not too strong.

beer-yum (3705) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 6, 2013
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2013 Superb hand pulled at Hashigo Zake. Rich and deceptively strong. A great brew to see through a long, cold winter with warm, strong food. Subsequent taste at Rogue and Vagabond was even better than I remembered. Have upped my rating to match.

Cask at Pomeroys, Christchurch
Hazy chestnut brown with thin vanilla white head. Slight redcurrant nose. Tart in the mouth with atouch of licorice. Medium body, low carbonation withsome roast coffee and dark chocolate notes in finish. Pairs well with sausages and caramelised onion gravy.

I expected a stout, but it was probably too thin-bodied for that, and now I see that it’s just styled as an "old ale". Roasted malts on the nose and taste, some well-balanced bitterness in the finish. Not bad, but nothing extraordinary.

Cask. Dark brown colour. Some nice hop aroma, with roasted matl and chocolate/caramel flavour. Palate is nice, not much
