Average-to-large sized, white head that slowly diminished to 1/4-finger. Body is dark orange with some haziness. Fair lacing left on the sides of the glass.
S: Interesting aroma... you get your sweetness with some fruity scents, and a tart, sour aroma as well.
T: Tastes very much like it smells... starts with a fruity sweetness, but finishes very slightly sour and dry. Overall, very smooth to drink.
M: Light-bodied, creamy texture, with average carbonation.
D: Solid across the board. Quite enjoyable. Travlr (769), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Appearance was light brown, slightly cloudy, big tan head with only slight lacing.
Smell was sweet caramel and butterscotch. Hint of vanilla, apples and nutmeg.
Taste started sweet and stayed that way, good malt content, but could use more balance.
Nice enough, nothing too complex, but not bad at all. TaxiDriver (943), Stadland, Germany

The body is light and creamy with a lively carbonation. sound67 (214), Offenbach, Germany
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2009 75cl corked bottle, as shown. Medium, soapy off-white head that collapses quickly. Good retention. Clear, deep amber colour. Caramelized apple and yeast on the nose. Medium to heavy-bodied, thick, creamy mouth feel. Taste, again, is of caramelized apple - with roasted malt to balance the sweet notes. Some sweetish herbs, too. Dry, bitter finish and medium bitter, slightly alcoholic after taste. This is a quietly impressive French "ale" that reveals its subtler notes only after a while. Increasingly complex and heavy as you keep drinking. Quite sessionable, given the unobtrusive bitter notes, but definitely not bland. Nice biere de garde. tarheels86 (789), Washington DC, USA

Into a tulip, this pours a clear, reddish amber with a thin, bright white cap. Aroma is apple cider vinegar, caramel candies, maraschino cherries. Taste is big caramel apple, honey, apple cider, syrupy cherry; very sweet to the point of being medicinal. No lacing. Teege (113), Orlando, Florida, USA

Pretty thin on the palate. Subtle hints of brandy that aren’t powerful enough to make it particularly interesting. Easy to drink, but not a lot going on. bergstaden (110), Røros, Norway
