ozzatoadisback (643) - ITALY - MAR 14, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2024 Pours some kind of red/ruby, slightly translucent through light. A low to medium sized head, the slightest off-white, quite compact. Shows good enough retention and hints of lacing. Low to average intensity in the aroma: a soft dough-like base, white bread, not too bright candy-like raspberry notes, light hints of strawberry and lemonish tartness. Taste notes follow the aroma closely, again with modest intensity. Medium sweet (maybe not as much as you would think) with the slightest hint of sourness showing up in the finish. No detectable bitterness, but still feels balanced enough (not that much sweetness as mentioned, clean profile). Medium or slightly below medium bodied, low to medium fine-bubbled carbonation, the slightest hint of creaminess. Ok but quite unremarkable.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2023 Almost clear through an amber/copper hued pour. Distinct raspberry, or berry family fragrance. Candied sweet nose. Smallish off white head with lacing, fades. Mouthfeel of wet flavors similar to a carbonated soft drink comes forward, tasty, plus added warming from the 5.7%. Enjoyable brew with a sweet tart finish.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2023 12 ounce bottle at The Winking Lizard in Copley, Ohio. Smell the raspberries. Reddish in color with white head. Taste the raspberries and the sweetness. Light bodied and easy to drink. Has berry aftertaste. Just a delightful beer! Cheers!

UriahHeep (391) - Georgia, USA - APR 6, 2023
UPDATED: APR 6, 2023 12 oz. bottle. Reddish pour with white-pink foam head. Mild carbonation. Aroma of tart cherries and berries. Fresh, sweet, slightly syrupy. Creamy mouthfeel. Surprisingly rich palate at only 5.7% a/bv. Founder’s hit the sweet spot with this decision, as it’s just the right level of alcohol content for the style. Sour finish was not unwelcome. Notes of cherry flesh. Sublimely sweet beginning gives way to a tart and warming finish. The tart flavor never overwhelms the drink as it is perfectly balanced by sweet fruit. This firmly remains in the fruited ale category; never did I feel like it was too fruity that it no longer resembled a beer. Instead, here you have a tasty and warming ale enhanced by fresh fruit additions. Rübæus makes for an exquisite dessert beer.
