The taste is very malty at the beginning with notes of rye bread, caramel and ripe banana. The hop bitterness is spicy and has some citrus. The bitterness is nicely balanced in relation to the malt sweetness, and it is also the msalt flavor that is most prominent. I find it very good.

Schlenkerla29 (2351) - Sevilla, SPAIN - FEB 14, 2023UPDATED: FEB 14, 2023 Bernsteinfarben, gut trüb und mit sehr üppiger Schaumpracht gibt sich Mahrs Kellerbier die Ehre. Die Duftprobe verzückt mit aromatischer Hefe, fein karamelligem Malz und milder, aber äußerst angenehmer Zitrusfrucht. Der hefig weiche Einstieg erfolgt fein honigsüß und mit zurückgestellter Orangenfruchtigkeit. Eine zauberhafte zitrusfruchtig-herbale Hopfung zieht sich im Mittelteil peu-à-peu über nunmehr toastig-karamellig-brotiges Malz. Der hefig-weiche Trunk, welcher auf die fehlende Spundung trifft, ermöglicht ein Höchstmaß an Süffigkeit. Im Abgang setzt eine hocharomatische dezente Kräuterherbe ein finales Ausrufezeichen. Summasummarum ist dieses Bamberger Kultbier eine süffige und äußerst schmackhafte Angelegenheit!
