COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Unfiltered Ingredients: Water, malted barley, wheat starch, sugar, hop extract and yeast. Chimay Triple, with its typical golden colour, its slightly hazy appearance and its fine head is especially characterised by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. The beer’s flavour, as sensed in the mouth, comes from the smell of hops: above all it is the fruity notes of Muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma. The aroma complements the touch of bitterness. There is no acidity, but an after-bitterness which melts in the mouth. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

SilkTork (7741) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - APR 16, 2024
UPDATED: APR 16, 2024 April 2024. Stubby bottle from LCB. BBE Nov 2026. Peppery to a degree that it intrudes on every sip an d makes enjoyment difficult. looking back on my previous reviews, this is a frequent complaint I've made. There's an attractive beer underneath, but the hop dust spoils the whole beer. [2.5] Sept 2019. 330ml dark stubby bottle, unfiltered with residue, part of BeerWulf's Trappist pack. OK, I like this. Strong blond. Yeast and alcohol are present, but on this occasion I am finding the presence on the whole welcoming, though the alcohol is perhaps just a tad more evident than it should be. Sweetish with fruit notes. Pear Drops. Some peppery powdery bitterness, not great, lingering. Yeah, lots of plus points among the negative. Starts better than it finishes. Hmmm. [3.3] May 2011 Dry and bitter. Loose carbonation that repeats - not aggressive, just overly present. Woody, caramel and honey notes - but bitterness predominates. Not a beer I’m hugely enjoying. [2.4] Sept, 2007 A peppery, smooth and strong beer with a chalky, dry finish. Hmm. Must compare this with Duvel one day. Sugar notes. Pleasant enough - warm - almost hot - alcohol. Not unpleasant, but not outstanding either. [3.0] Sept, 2004: This seems to have more pepper than most. The ingredients list doesn’t inspire confidence in this being a quality product. Hop extract and wheat starch? Rougher and more interesting than Hoegaarden Grand Cru, though less attractive and pleasant to drink. [2.7] Nov, 2002: Mud, pepper, year old lemon juice, alcohol. Not good. [1.9]

Botrytis (852) - Illmitz, AUSTRIA - MAR 30, 2024

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2024 Fragrant and fruity, with a solid head that holds its shape. Strong flavours without anything even slightly unpleasant, flavourful without anything bitter or rough. Just amazing.

Banksiz (291) - Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 17, 2023
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2023 Slightly lemony nose, some light malt. Bubblegum, banana and stone fruit esters as it warms up and breathes. Medium body, satisfying mix of sweetness and moderate bitterness. Pleasant bitter finish. Good brew, but with everything that today's breweries are putting out, doesn't stand out in that way that it used to.

pindolaire (627) - SPAIN - JUN 28, 2023

bdleedahl (6753) - , NETHERLANDS - JUN 18, 2023
UPDATED: JUN 18, 2023 As advertised. A tripel with slightly more chewy bite and haziness to it. More hops, more phenols. For my taste it is a little bit too much of these for the style. But great nonetheless. Bierkonig ams
