COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here you have what could be the first malt liquor worthy of a glass. Typically a slighted style, we thought we would class it up with a stay in the wood and a healthy dose of dry-hopping. A huge hit of corn gives this one a smooth sweetness while its time spent aging in bourbon barrels will give you reason to share. Be warned: this one’s a pry-off, not a twist-off.

TEJA (5778) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 30, 2023
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2023 Only the 2nd malt liquir I have rated. Big fluffy off white head that is short lasting. Lots of solid, but it is over 5 year old. A nice aroma that has madrification and round caramell. Smooth malty caramell taste and oxidation thst makes it complex. A bit too sweet.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2023 Draught. Ambery deep golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is vanilla, wood, some bourbon, toffee and a wee bit of alcohol. Flavour is toffee, vanilla, some fruity tones with mild alcohol sweetness too. Still very smooth to drink, even though a bit warming.

Brigadier (4930) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 22, 2023
UPDATED: AUG 22, 2023 12 ounce bottle This isn't a style that I would typically rate but I do trust Dogfish Head to deliver and they certainly did. A very well aged bottle tastes more like an old ale than malt liquor at this point. With about six years in the cellar time has treated it well. That said I wouldn't sit on it too long. AROMA / APPEARANCE Malty deep brown liquid soaks up the light with a creamy presence like sherry. The nose resembles an old ale with a number of years on it which is not too surprising. Overall it is inviting if nothing special. FLAVOR / PALATE Caramel malts, sherry, and supple booze flow over the mouth with a creamy texture. The chewy mouthfeel then ebbs into a rich glowing finish. There's definitely alcohol here but with age It no longer feels heavy or hot. Evidence of decline keeps it from being a complete standout but it was still a nice treat from the cellar.

UPDATED: JAN 8, 2022 (Bottle) Hazy amber colour with frothy, tan head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of apricots, oak wood, coconut, vanilla, toffee, nuts, caramel and orange. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, oak wood, bourbon, coconut, vanilla, apricots, toffee, nuts, orange and a mild peppery bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, sweet. Sweet and boozy, but quite complex and really tasty with a good bourbon character. Very nice.

laiti (11501) - Tampere, FINLAND - NOV 11, 2021
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2021 35,5 cl bottle @ Naamat. Batch #1629, BBE 26.06.2018 Aroma has vanilla, strong sweet malty tones and ripe fruits. Feels heavy. Flavour has gluey tones, alcohol, toffee candy. Finishes wirh sharp-ish alcohol. Heavy and somewhat stuffy, not that great drinkability. But kinda works as slow sipper.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2020 From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours orange /brown with a thin head. Aroma of whisky-Mac that I used to drink at college many years ago ! Taste of caramel, toffee, malt , vanilla , whisky and demerara sugar. This beer packs a punch ! Like a whisky liqueur with a strong overtone of Demerara sugar. Little hops. Drink slowly - no way does this taste like 14.2% alcohol. Ok for a change but sample occasionally !
