Commercial Description:
A recently created style in the USA, Icon 2IPA is made in the American/Imperial Indian Pale Ale Style. Icon 2IPA is an extreme beer - extensive hopping creates intense citrus/passionfruit/peppery characters in the flavour and aroma balanced by sweet biscuity malt, which finishes with full bodied, rich and with a rounded bitterness. At 7.5% alcohol, Icon 2IPA is a beer to be savoured.

Draught. Bitter & Twisted Beer Festival. Pours a nice deep bronze with minimal slightly offwhite head. Big aromas of citrus, pine and resiny hops. Some malt sweetness and a little alcohol also. Flavour initially shows some citrus from the hops. followed by the sweet malt and caramel flavours and finally comes the resiny hops. Not quite as agressive as would have thought but still an excellent beer. Very excited for the bottle I have stashed away.

750ml Bottle. Had been looking around for this for a while so I’m very glad to finally try it. Pours slightly hazy reddish amber with an off-white head that lasts for a while. Nose is very fruity and has lots of floral hops as well as notes of toffee, passionfruit, orange, grapefruit and spice. Flavour is also quite hoppy but more restrained than expected: caramel, cinnamon, citrus and ginger are all noticeable. Medium body and a smooth mouthfeel, almost creamy, and a long bitter, spicy finish. An excellent DIPA and yet another quality beer from Murrays. Hopefully more local brewers will start producing this style.

Wow! Big fruity, citrus nose, wuite intense and has some underlying malt aroma there too, also a hint of alcohol. The taste is spicy and creamy, with some alcoholic sweetness. Murray’s make some outstanding beers, one of my favourite aussie producers.

Pours a lovely ruby/amber with a small off-white head that shows good persistence and lacing. Aroma is fruity as! Tangerine, pineapple, paw paw, grapefruit and passion fruit. Then there’s some spicy and resinous hops in the background, along with some sweet malts. Taste is some brief citrus fruit up front before a strong sweet malty backing and some alcohol show their presence. Green hoppy bitterness follows in a finish of reasonable duration. Smooth alcoholic heat creeps up on the palate. Lovely cream body. Murray’s continue to amaze me with their brews.

Aroma: freshly cut laws with passionfruit with mounds of rich malt. Appearance: slightly hazy amber dark amber with a fantastic sticky head that left sheet lacing. Flavour: mounds of malt and fruity notes with a brilliant hop balance and just noticeable spiritousness. Palate: thick and rich with a sticky malt and hop finish. Overall this was suprisingly great.

Sampled from 750 ml bottle and shred by StLWill. Pours a semi-clear copper amber brew with a thick beige head that slowly dissipates to an off-white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some grapefruit, a hint of tangerine, pine and some peach. Taste is slightly tart and medium bodied with flavors of grapefruit, light caramel, tropical fruit and some spicy resin hops. Finish continues the spiced grapefruit bitterness that lingers after the finish. Nice!

Pours copper with a creamy beige head. Nice lacing around the glass. Pleasant aroma of caramel, grapefruit, citrus, passionfruit and pine hops. Awesome flavour of caramel malt and the citrus and fruits are now gracing the tongue as well. Smooth mouthfeel with a lingering dry and hoppy bitter finish. One just isn’t enough. A big beer for sure, this one’s like whoa.
