Overpowering mandarin aroma mixed with toffee. The head is very thick off-white. Alcoholic taste which is slightly offset with heaps of bitterness. Dry aftertaste caused by the alcohol. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice malty aroma. Clearish brown colour with ok head. Strong alcoholic malt flavour with smooth bitter finish. Heavy body with low carbonation.

Well balanced brew - heavy toffee malt (a bit too toasty for my palate) and earthy herbal hops - serious ale - dark in the glass and thick on the tongue like an English beer. Enjoyed although I prefer the American style, paler, less malt-driven, fruitier high octane ales.

It pours cloudy brown with almost no head, aroma of toffee, doesn’t really smell like an IPA, taste is mildly bitter and malty.

A decent IPA from a Victorian microbrewery. Had a bottle at Mrs Parmas, decent amount of hops, bitterness and strong malt character. To sound like an absolute beer w##nker for a moment, it tasted a little old school IPA if you know what I mean. In the 2000’s this would have been utterly cutting edge. This being said, a great IPA which i would drink again if on offer.

Bathory (456) - Kverneland, NORWAY - DEC 27, 2013
Pours almost a brown colour with a good white head. Strong aroma of peach, passionfruits and some malts. Taste, however, is s bit disappointing. Way too malty and a tad to bitter for my taste. Some tropical fruits also, but not that present. Quite big body, fizzy aroma and a abit sticky mouthfeel. Overall, an okey IPA, but some flaws in my opinion.

Niksko (644) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - NOV 25, 2013
330ml bottle. Pours a deep amber with two fingers of fine off white head. Nose is orange, slight peach and a bit of a boozy note. Taste is really just some citrus and pine, with lots of bitterness on the finish. Body is medium. Not particularly impressed by this. The flavour profile and aroma are very boring. Perhaps it’s an old bottle. This one night need a re-rate.

Bottle (330ml). Hazy copper-brown pour with decent white head and lace. Malty aromas dominate (caramel mainly) with fruity hops (oranges, cherries) and alcoholic presence. Palate is smooth and creamy with a medium body and well balanced malt and hops flavour profile. Finishes moderately bitter with an alcoholic burn.

Sevenlee (1845) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - AUG 13, 2013
Pours a dark cloudy brown with a large, frothy beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel, fruit and some hops. Taste is medium sweet leading to a moderate bitter finish. Good one.

3.9
HopRedHead (397) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 18, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a cloudy copper with a thin tan head. Resin hop aroma with a balanced toffee back. Taste is very dimensional. Tasting a variety of hop flavours like citrus, tropical and also piney/resin, all while retaining the toasty caramel undercurrent. Booze is concealed, just a slight warmth in the bitter aftertaste. Great IPA.
