Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2023 A 375ml bottle, with no clear bottled on or best before date. Poured into a snifter glass. It was black in colour with a thin brown head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving sparse to no lacing. Aromas of light roast, coffee, chocolate, molasses, caramel, vanilla. Tastes of light roast, chocolate, coffee, caramel, vanilla, licorice, pine, hop bitterness. Medium bodied with soft to no carbonation. Overall, a decent sipper, probably past its prime, based on my previous ratings, but definitely worth trying.

t-randers (90) - LUXEMBOURG - JUL 29, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 29, 2020 Pitch black with a very small and non lasting tan head, probably because of the bad pour. Smells of roasted malts, coffee and dark chocolate and a bit of soy sauce, which is repulsive. Very roasty and sharp burning taste.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2020 March 20th, 2016 - Another beer from the storage cellar today, Mikkeller's Black Hole promises a well aged, relaxed and flavorful brew on the dark end of the spectrum. But like the other Mikkeller I pulled from the cellar, this one is dead flat, too. Even so, the nose is still powerful with licorice and anise, like a lacquer, and maybe some pine and pine tar. Though the lack of carbonation absolutely kills the flavor, there's still a nice collection of notes: licorice, pine, pine tar. The benefits of aging also show themselves here with a seamless integration of the alcohol notes, which lend strength and zip to the more powerful tasting notes. In a way it tastes like a pine forest. Imagine how good this beer must have been in it's prime...

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2019 Klasyczny RIS. Bez udziwnień i dróg na skróty. Mocno palony, czekoladowy, wytrawny z delikatną tylko slodyczą. Oleisty i gładki.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2019 Wow, what a label, and then I saw Mikkeller and that it was a stout of some kind. Obtained at an upscale beer shop in Santa Fe in October, it is getting the try tonight. I selected my New Belgium tulip for the tasting. The lid comes off and I make the pour out of a 12.7 oz bottle. The body is coal black with a resolute light-to-medium tan skim of foam, The scent is strong licorice, sour dough bread and blackberry, all good. But I am here for the drink. Heavy on the malt, quickly a berry sweetness, oatmeal, cracker, light chocolate and firmly bitter at the end. Not as viscous as other imperial stouts but that is not a bother, just an observation. A very good effort, not a favorite.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2019 Starzone perfekcyjnie w ciemnej piwnicy ok 4 lata. Klasa sama w sobie. Polecam do sera pecorino, ekstra pasowalo.
