dark brown colour with ruby notes, huge, dense and stable beige head; aroma of cocoa powder, dried sour cherry, plum, maybe figs, too, some herbs and hints of carmel; taste of dark chocolate, dried fruits (sour cherry, plum and raisins), some roastedness and herbal liqueur notes; great quadrupel

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2023 Tap at Cardiff taproom. Cola brown with small off white head. Rich dark fruit raisin nose. Taste is rich, sticky, long lasting. Raisin and bread. A meal in a cup. Really nice.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2022 Pours dark brown with a small head. Nose shows raisins, toffee, cloves and caramel. Flavours include sultanas, port, golden syrup, brown sugar, soft booze and toffee.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2021 On-tap at Eureka! Irvine on 30th December 2021. Last beer of a very pleasant two hours sat at the bar. Dark, moody looking beer, the head a beige wisp and collar; came too cold and therefore had no aroma at first, cupped the glass in my hands to try and warm it up a bit, malty coffee esters arrived alongside some toffee and sultana like aromas eventually. The taste was also malt dominated and again there was a toffee and raisin/sultana twist to the brew. The experience was ruined by the coldness of the pour, shame really as it got better and better as it warmed, but my lift was waiting, so I had to rush it.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2021 Fairly mild yet interestingly complex aroma of prune, bread, raisin, earthy spiciness, and toffee. Pours a dark amberish brown with small bubbly off white head Strong malty and yeast flavor of raisin, prune, charred woody roastiness and an earthy spiciness. Medium full bodied with medium co2, lingering spice in finish. Enjoyable dark Belgian. A bit more on the roasty side than I would prefer for this though, hides the fruity dark malt character that I like to taste.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2020 Nice raisiny aroma, chocolate, biscuit, very light iron, brown sugar. Clear dark brown to black color with minimal sized brown head, sweet taste, biscuit, raisin, chocolate, blackberry, some alcohol. Thin to medium body, lively carbonation, sweet fruity finish, heavy oatmeal, nice.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2020 Pours dark brown almost black. Medium sized head that slowly dissipates. Either my nose is bad or there’s not much happening in the aroma. Medium body. Starts with some bitterness. Gives way to raises taste. Finishes with a little stickiness
