KansaiBeerLvrs (8497) - Kyoto, JAPAN - DEC 2, 2022UPDATED: DEC 2, 2022 It feels like winter so figured I’d crack this:
Behemoth Snow Mexican 9%
Maple Syrup Imperial Stout
Inky black with a tan head and an awesome maple chocolate aroma. Seriously one of the best aromas I’ve had from a maple beer. Full bodied, lush and smooth with a bit of heat.
The taste is burnt molasses, dark cacao, maple and a fruity treacle. After the amazing aroma I feel a bit left down but still a damn fine beer.
Fules (2158) - Gyöngyös, HUNGARY - MAY 25, 2022UPDATED: MAY 25, 2022 Nagy, barna, tömör, közepesen tartós hab, fekete szín. Szinte minden mást elnyomó juharszirupos, kakaós, csokis, kissé kávés illat, némi aszalt gyümölcsös beütéssel. Kávés, kakaós, juharszirupos ízek, némi aszalt gyümölcsös, szilvás aromával. Testes, édeskés, enyhén szénsavas, közepesen keserű. Kellemes juharszirupos desszertsör.
CacheManyHose (1431) - HONG KONG - OCT 17, 2021UPDATED: OCT 17, 2021 Drank on day 24 with Ruby. Pours an opaque brown-black with a watery beige head. Aroma: lots of maple syrup, slightly burnt chocolate chip cookie, coffee, some caramel/toffee. Taste: roasted and biscuit malts, slightly sharp, chili spice, burnt malt/coffee and faintly herbal bitterness, finish is surprisingly watery. Palate: medium-bodied and smooth but on the thin side, medium spice and bitterness. Like the nose - strong maple syrup - but the taste and body are less robust and unexpectedly thin in comparison.
HKdIPA (1437) - HONG KONG - OCT 17, 2021UPDATED: OCT 17, 2021 Tall can from Brewcraft (I think) at home, many months later. Pours dark cola brown with tan head. Aroma is heavy maple syrup and roasted chocolate and coffee. Taste has some bitterness, more spiced maybe, then sweet maple syrup, wood, some coffee. Palate is thinner than expected and a bit flat, not my favorite. Very maple forward. Good but this didn’t do it for me really - too heavy maple syrup and palate not to my liking.
mountdad (958) - Mount Maunganui, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 15, 2021UPDATED: OCT 15, 2021 440ml can. Pours black with a small but lasting tan head.
Aroma is decent with dark malts & maple.
Beer is medium bodied, smooth & sweet, with a hefty dark malt base. The maple is there & the beer is sweet but there is also a solid bitterness from hops or over roasted malt?
A beer to sip & savour.
colui72 (4922) - Sassari, ITALY - JUL 9, 2019UPDATED: JUL 9, 2019 Pours as dark as the darkness would be, frothy tan head with a nice skirt of lacing. As you pop this can the room smells of maple syrup, so I wouldn't recommend to open it, for example, in a pigsty, it may spoil! Tastes sweet, but with a solid roasty backbone, load of chocolate, and I thin note of chili, all wrapped in maple syrup. Viscous, smooth, it kisses your palate that asks for more, but the sugar level of your blood would eventually disagree. An excellent treat!
Luvystypotables (2678) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - DEC 29, 2018UPDATED: DEC 29, 2018 Aroma of maple syrup and a hint of coffee, pours a black color with a thin tan head. Taste makes me want to have this with pancakes at a cabane au sucre, maple syrup with notes of coffee a medium body, creamy mouth feel with a slightly bitter coffee finish.
jmgreenuk (19515) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - NOV 20, 2018Can at Hair of the Dog, Phrom Phong, Bangkok. Poured a clear dark brown with a short-lived frothy light tan head. The aroma is malt, big maple syrup, dry hop. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth rich, roasty, sweet maple syrup, pancake, light hop, boozy alcohol bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Nicely balanced and anyone who likes maple syrup will adore this beer.
Samtzu (2111) - Palmerston North, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 10, 2018UPDATED: SEP 10, 2018 440ml can. Pours a dark black with light brown head. Huge nose full of sweet malts, vanilla and maple syrup. Medium body with a sweet front with thick maple syrup. Delicious and sweet but something you can only enjoy one can at a time.
explosivedog (13000) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 8, 2018UPDATED: SEP 10, 2018 440ml can. Pours thick black with a frothy tan head. Maple, dark chocolate, sweet, lots of maple, little sugary raw heat, bit of coffee. Full body but a bit overcarbonated I think. Fine.
