Aroma of marmalade, citrus and resin notes. Taste of citrus pith and a moderate-growing bitterness. A full smooth oily mouthfeel. phaleslu (526), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Part of the tasting rack at the brewpub. Pours a clear gold color with a medium white head. Has a nice hoppy aroma, with grapefruit citrus and pine. Hops, citrus, and pine are also throughout the flavor, which includes some spice and sweetness before a dry hoppy finish. Very well-balanced and an excellent IPA overall. donfardz64 (419), Wellington, New Zealand

A big, fresh hop aroma, grapefruit & pepper with a bit of pineneedles.
Piny hop flavour, resiny, turning a bit peppery as it accumulates.
The resiny bitterness fills your mouth, then a long hoppy dry finish.
A beautiful hoppy, tasty IPA. Tastes kind of like an American IPA. DuffMan (2764), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 13, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. We stopped in for dinner, but all the tables were full. I tasted a couple of brews and bought a T-shirt before we went somewhere else. This beer was a little piece of heaven! Luscious passionfruit and citrus aroma. Sweet toffee malt sets the stage for the main attraction: beautifully generous tropical fruit and citrus hop flavours. Nice bitter finish. A beautifully made American style IPA. Nice balance, very fresh. An IPA that I could drink all night! snuffla (97), Chch, New Zealand
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 4, 2009 Updated: Jul 11, 2009On tap at the hop 4/7/09. Newer 5.2% abv version. They’re after feedback on this one (you get a feedback form if you ask for one at the bar). Maybe i should have submitted mine as it needs improvement on last summers 6% monster of hops. Anyway, this one looked a little bit less from the start. Frothiness to the head which set me on the back foot. Pale amber coloured.
The nose threatened hugeness on first impression but needed to be sought out. It was subdued, tho once located offered orange marmalade and passionfruit just not in the quantities I want from an IPA.
Lots of bitterness but then a thin-ness to the rest of it suggesting the malts need tweaked to balance the whole thing out.
Will try again to check on developments, and next time fill in the feedback form.
Re-rate 11/7/09. On much better form. Head filled out and lasted all the way down the pint, lovely legs on the glass - still lacks a certain something in the middle but much richer in the mouth.

Aroma is hoppy citrus and bitter. Flavor is sweet citrus hoppy. The bitterness balances the kiwi and tangerine making this IPA crisp, clean and enjoyable. nutpea (16), , Scotland

| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 30, 2008 Updated: Dec 8, 2008Tried on tap at the brewbar, this was the 6.4% version....kinda disappointed that RNA had finished....nah what am i saying IPA is my favourite style! An IPA on cask wow i feel lucky! and man this was a good beer! Smells like a bag of hops...i dunno what the IBU’s are but it was satisfactorily palate pealing...i wrote ’full bodied hop attack’ in my note book in rather shaky handwriting after a few of these!
