Commercial Description:
Black as coal in color, this bottle conditioned Stout has a velvety rich and sweet malt aroma. After pouring, a dense brown head gives way to a big, full-bodied and creamy texture that has flavors of roasted coffee and black currants, blending perfectly with the malt. A generous amount of hops add balance and complexity to this extraordinary stout that will continue to improve with age. A worthy beer to cellar and enjoy throughout the year.

Looked like ink, tasted like used motor oil. I am shocked that this beer rated so high. The acl content is nice but that’s it. I have been let down by everything Arcadia has offered. They have proven to be a sub-standard brewery.

Bottle 355 ml
Appearance: pours as ruby black-brown ale. Light almost nonexistent beige brown top. Low carbonation. 2+
Nose: soy sauce, dark plum and prunes, brown malt, caramel with roasted barley, hit of vanilla.
Flavor/Palate : full bodied. Proper malt work, solid, fulfilling and satisfying. Mild yet well proposed bitterness of dark roasted barley. Slight dryness of alcohol. Solid craft presented.

A 12 oz. 07 bottle from Lunar Brewing Co. The pour was black/brown and like thin oil, with a brownish tan head that reduced to a bubbly layer and left a small ring and a few spots on the glass as the beer disappeared. The aroma was very roasty, with molasses sweetness, wood, a little bacon, and a touch of leather. The flavor added some smoke, good alcohol presence, and a lasting bitter/dryness. Very tasty and cellared well.

12oz - Brown/black pour with thin tan head. Mild nose of smoke, roasted malt. Slight metallic tang on palate is distracting, and it lacks power. Good not great.

This is a very good Imperial stout. Nice balance of flavors. Beautiful chocolate head fades to minimal lacing. Nice sweetness to balance the bitter. Nice, full mouthfeel. Good finish.

Pours black with no head. Aroma of dried fruit, coffee, chocolate, Flavor is the same with some smoke. Thin in the mouth with a bit of warmth going down. Not very special.

Pours pitch black with a thin coffe colored head that settles into a lacing that lasts. Roasted chocolate malty aroma with coffee, sugar cane, whiskey and vanilla notes. Very quaffable with a lot of malty flavor as well as a slightly bitter hop and oak presence. Roasted coffee and sweet alcohol/ whiskey in the finish.

12 oz bottle from village beer merchant in buffalo. 2008 vintage. pours black with a small tan head. aroma of sweet dark fruit, roasted malt. the flavour is chocolate, dark fruit and caramel. no hop flavour or aroma but they held the malts in check. a decent drinker for an imperial stout.
