UPDATED: NOV 16, 2023 16 ounce can from The Foodery in Chestnut Hill, PA. This is the number one rated beer for this style on RateBeer! Slightly hazed amber red color. Large, rocky beige head leaves spotty lacing. Mild, toasted malt aroma. Flavor upfront is slightly tannic with notes of toasted malt, caramel, brewed tea and buttery Saaz hops. A bit dry and spicy in the lingering finish. Simply outstanding!

czar (14997) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 7, 2023
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2023 can courtesy of mathieuc, many thanks man! pours unclear light amber, dark orange tint, with a nice light beige-orange cap offering good enough retention and lacing. lots of spicy grass from saaz and harmonie; gently toasted and caramelized maltiness, so far from dull tho, maybe even more like stuffed dried fruit bread with an unbreakable brown crust, lots of peppery berries, super duper clean yeast action. moderate carbonation, light body, dry and crisp herbal-spicy finish. again, an americanized german interpretation success for schilling.

willisread (7331) - Detroit, Michigan, USA - JAN 5, 2023
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2023 2/26/2021 Backlog: Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear amber with a finger of off-white foam that dissipates. Chestnut, grain and pepper on the nose. More of the same on the palate. Bread, peppery notes with just great drinkability. Not sweet like a lot of vienna/amber lagers. Czech through and through. Drying finish with pepper and toasted malt.
