COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been a long strange trip, and we’re not about to stop now. After six years and four releases of American Beauty, we’re back with an encore … only this time you haven’t heard the melody. Together with the Grateful Dead, we’re proud to introduce our latest collaborative iteration – American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA. Inspired by the Grateful Dead’s beloved “American Beauty” album, American Beauty Hazy Ripple IPA is an unfiltered India Pale Ale brewed with spelt – an ancient heirloom grain that contributes earthy notes and a natural haze – that’s then dosed with a special yeast variety to accentuate hop aromatics. The result is a psychedelic 7.0% ABV ale that’s bursting with notes of tropical fruit and juicy citrus, while the style callout lovingly references the fan-favorite track “Ripple.”

UPDATED: JAN 22, 2021 I am holding a 12 oz can of Hazy Ripple IPA that was put up on 9/1/20. Obviously time is awasting. I shall honor this sampling with a Buffalo Bayou snifter and that is the story. The pour is a faded yellow with a stout head of pure white foam that slowly dissipates. The nose is vaguely citrusy and grassy, not a complaint at all. A drink gives a different story, I get a nice hop forwardness with some juice joining the party. Slightly sweet with pineapple and then straw and grass and field. Pleasant, more of a New England thing but then I did not select the style.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2021 some of the aromatic qualities are very volatile as I could smell several of them when I first opened the can but after pouring into the glass they're gone and all it's left is some citrus hops that are just starting to get old. some odd spicy herbal qualities that I can't quite place. Flavors are like nose, lightly sweet up front with good carbonation and low bitter. Add a little floral some melon and peaches. Some more of that odd quality that must be the spelt. not a bad beer but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

ccex (2337) - Lansing, Illinois, USA - DEC 25, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2020 12 oz can pours a hazy golden color with big frothy white head that leaves rings of lacing. Aroma is full of pineapple, orange, and tangerine with some grainy malts underneath. Although the initial flavor is juicy and fruity, the taste is slightly bitter. Body is medium with a sticky mouthfeel. OK for a hazy IPA (which is the style the can announces five times), but not in the league of the top 50 hazy IPAs.

bigcat03 (753) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - NOV 22, 2020
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2020 Can poured into a tulip glass. Hazy gold with a large, sudsy off white head. Aroma is juicy orange, grapefruit, lime. Initial taste is papaya, pineapple, orange. Fades to a fleeting resin bitterness and a hint of sweet grains. Light body and just enough carbonation.

climberbob (906) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - NOV 8, 2020
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2020 Can into tulip. Hazy yellow with ok head. Aroma bursts out as soon as the can is cracked. Citrus-tangerine, pineapple and mango. Taste has similar notes with some grainy sweetness underneath. Low IBU which is nice but still a bit of milder hop bitterness in there too. Solid.
