COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hoppy and malty Barley Wine style. This is lovely when fresh as the hop additions are prominent. However, it may be cellared for many years and will lead to an amazingly complex ale as the many ingredients blend together to give a truly classic Barley Wine

I found another beer that seems to tick all the right boxes. This is rich and sweet with amn initial aroma that I thought included dark chocolate but that didn’t translate to the glass. Nicely bitter but the alcohol begins to show through making it a little rough on the finish, But what a really nice beer with lots of redeeming things, I can imagine it getting better with more age and some of the raisins and fruits getting deeper. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

fast forward three years and pink elephant seem to be ramping up everything again. no idea if this is similar to the old recipe, but whatever it is, it’s delicious. enormous alcoholic caramel liqueur flavour backed up by a moderate hop bitterness and perhaps some background berry tartness. no carbonation on the palate at all, very smooth. might be a little sickly for some but as my first barleywine i really enjoy this.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, alcohol, fruit, and brettanomyces. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, brettanomyces, alcohol, and berries, leading to a tart finish.

’09 vintage. Odd aroma of green bananas, wierd. Flavour is much the same, with lots of fusel alcohol and bite. Seems like there’s something gone wrong with the fermentation in batch.

Bubblegum, sugar. Some vodka-ish alcohol. Flavours are dry, with lots of alcoholic bitterness. Not such a fan...

Bottle (Vintage 2009). Pours ruby with a small head that disappeared. Rough toffeish malt aroma and very boozy. It’s strong flavoured with candy sweetness (which is a common trait I find amongst the PE beers) and strong alcohol taste. Very low carbonation and the beer basically fell flat towards the end. Sour finish. Very disappointing overall. Thanks SorenE for the bottle.

Bottle 330ml, 2009. Very good, but alcohol is noticeable. Aromas of caramel, toffee, alcohol, and cherry. Taste is long-lasting, with sweet and bitter notes well-mixed. Velvety in the palate, with a medium body. Amber colour, with a creamy white head.

Hazy amber with a medium beige head. Aroma was sourish with malty notes. Flavour was yeasty with soruish, yeasty and fruity notes. Finished sourish.
