UPDATED: MAY 15, 2019 Bought at La Bodega from Riverside, California for $6.99, Smokin’ Bishop is a smoked bock crafted by Invercargill Brewery. The smell of manuka smokiness and caramel are noted as you drink. The appearance is a reddish brown that pours a minimal white head. When held up to light, the liquid glows ruby. The alcohol content is 7%. Manuka smoked malt illuminates and textures the body. Caramel smoothens the smoky tone. Honey sweetens the complexion and blends beautifully with the manuka smokiness. Smokin’ Bishop is a glamorous smoked bock. The manuka smoked malt and honey makes this brew exciting to drink. The honey offers the right amount of sweetness. I enjoyed this a lot and made me wish I didn’t have a solitary bottle. All the reason to pay the brewery a visit and drink as much as I can; this bock is delicious. Cheers. Prost. Lightly hazed dark amber color with a moderate, but dense light beige head. Heavy smoke and mild iodine. Hints of caramel. Quite dry with mild toasted malt and a gentle smokiness. Actually more smoke in the nose than in the flavor. For a bock, I would like a little more malt depth, but still an easy drinking smoked brew. 1/12

Nah, didn’t work for me. Others raved about it, but was a bit odd. I struggled to find the smokiness, but maybe I smoke my fish a bit too much and expected a sledgehammer. Slightly too sweet

Dark amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of campfire, smoked meat, & some chocolate notes; Flavor of smoky sweet malt, caramel/toffee, some dark fruit, and light spice; Pretty decent brew.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark amber with a thin white head and a little broken lace. The aroma is sweet sticky treacle toffee malt light yeast. The flavour is moderate sweet with a sweet, light smoky malt, floral alcoholic bitter palate and a lingering bitter sweet finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More like a barley wine than a smoked ale. The smoke was barely detectable.

2014 vintage. Pours a clear, deep amber with a small eggshell head that quickly gives way to the sides of the glass. Aromas are of caramel malts, toast, honey, and smoke. Flavours are somewhat savoury with a smokey phenolic component gently backed by more caramel malt sweetness and some bitterness. The finish is quite short with only a lingering tang and slight caramel sweetness.

Orange/brown appearance, little to no head retention. smokey nose, almost like honey smoked bacon, delicious if you like that sort of thing. taste is sweet, savoury, (almost a umame taste), hints of grass and herbs. Sits well in the mouth and quite a light and thorough mouthfeel. would match perfectly with some Red Leicester cheese. or smoked ementhal. from bottle

"this scores pretty dang good on RB (95) but I didn’t particularly care for it. You know who sets the bar in this style and I didn’t think this beer could hold that beer’s jock. The smoke was nice, especially in the aroma. Pretty aggressive, but the overly sweet and slightly cloying body and flavor made me think this is a one-timer for me."

(bottle - 330 ml) Orange pour with a thin white head. Huge smokey and meaty aroma. Not much else detectable. Flavor is a ton of the same meaty and smokey at the start with a very subtle sweet malt underneath.

The head is medium, the body dark brown. It smells smoky, darkmalty, raisin, bit brown sugar-sweet. The taste is brown-sugar-sweet, bit bitter, darkmalty, creamy, bit smoky.
