Draft @ Front Door: Dark black color with a thin tan sheet of lacing that folds up the glass. Nose of bright roast, cold brewed espresso coffee and dark chocolate (50% cacao). Also some licorice, marshmallow and vanilla. The flavor is soft with a semi-sweet impact. Mellow and smooth, light astringency and bitterness to balance the bright roast. Sweet mild chalk/mallow finish with some alcohol warmth but not much. Solid body but not chewy. Good stout, needs to be fairly warm to really breath. Nice flavors and an amazing malty drinkability.

On Tap at Sockeye Brewing Boise, ID. Pours out a pitch black topped with a nice cream tan head. A very nice aroma of roasted coffee and sweetness. Tast of bitter chocolate and coffee. A very nice Brew.

On Tap at the BrewPub. Black viscous and a small tan head. Modest but persistant lacing. Big warm aromas of dark roasted malts and molasssas. Big sharp roasted flavors wiith some licorice and campfire notes. Full palate and plenty of bitternes to balance the heavy sweet flavors. Very nice.

Draft @ Sockeye: Near black pour with a big, creamy brown head. Decent sheet lacing. First impression of the aroma is roasted malts with coffee before picking up the chocolate. Flavor is roasty, burnt malt, and a bit smoky. Chocolate and coffee blend together with a nice bitters presence in the trailer. Creamy on the palate. There has been a great run of Impys on tap in the valley lately and this one is right up there with them all. Well done, a very solid offering from an Idaho brewer.
