Bottle shared by beerbill at Paul’s homebrew session. Hazy golden pour with a dense white head. Citric, dry aroma with some funk- grapefruit, leather, old horse blanket- Guezue-like character in it’s funkiness. Creamy and crisp feeling simultaneously. Tart flavor- lots of citric acidity and lemony like flavors. Some white oak is there with a funky back- nuances of dry leather and horse blanket. Crisp and acidic throughout. Complex as well. Nice indeed.

750 ml bottle shared by Beerbill. Thanks! Pours a hazy orangey yellow with a nice fluffy diminishing white head and some slight stringy lace. Aroma is peachy, stone fruitish, pears, sour lacto, brettish, slight brine-like, mineral- acid-like, lambic, and bretty and you can tell it will be a nice sour. Flavor is mineral- chalky with stone fruits- peachy, similar to festina lente but a bit more complex, labic-like, great acidity, lactic acid, a touch citric, and malic- slight horsey funk, acidic- slateish backbone and good medium body with a long acidic finish- but not too over the top, very drinkable. Had this many times so far and it is still holding up very nicely, perhaps still getting better each time.

It’s about time I review this one! 750ml corked & caged into Lost Abbey Rastal Teku. A - Isabelle Proximus pours clear with a dark golden color with almost an orangish hue. There’s a half a fingers worth of head that sticks around for a little bit but then vanishes leaving on a few bubbles here and there around the top of the liquid. No lacing to speak of being that there’s no head retention. S - Semi-sweet tart/sour notes, oranges, mangos, horse blanket. Not super-funky like some other Wild Ales, but has enough to satisfy the funk I’m looking for while also delivering a nice sweetness that pairs up to create a wonderful beer. T - Oh baby, this is good stuff! The nose is deceiving because it’s a lot more funky then I was expecting when compared to the nose. Orange peels, brett, barnyard fuck, horse blanket, mangos. It’s sweet up front but the finish turns my mouth inside-out with awesome sour notes. M - Light body, fizzy carbonation that tingles my lips, dry finish. D - Such an awesome creation, this one was as-good as all the hype surrounding it. I’ve had some top-rated sours, and this one is right up at the top along with Yellow Bus, Veritas 004, and Blabaer.

750 ml bottle courtesy of a trade with dirty martini. Pours a cloudy gold with a white head. The aroma is both acidic and tart with lemon, goat cheese, and oak along with some funk. The flavor is equally tart with lemon, vinegar, some oakiness and some funk. Bright on the palate with some lively effervescence. Very good, although I must admit a bit over-hyped I think.

22nd July 2008. Sharp sour beer. Lemon acidity and bitterness. A hint of orange. Dry acidic finish. I could taste nothing of the oaking. This style of beer goes over my head so apologies to all you sour lovers!

Sample #31 at 1st CST, thanks to xnoxhatex! Pours a light hazy golden with a small white froth. Aroma is a bit ’American’, brett, pedio, lactic, yogurt, cheesy funk, vanilla, oaky. Flavor follows, tart candy sweetness, very tart, lip lickingly sour, oh so sour, the yogurt is distracting, candy sweet, a nice woody note towards the finish. Dry mouth-feel. Thanks Dev. Would love to try again ;)

a really light and clear colored beverage, this little guy is bursting with sweet and sour flavor, very strong and very fizzy. Incredibly refreshing. I wish I had tried more than a sample. Bottle from Ryan Blanksi’s Sourfest- Hollywood, Florida.
