COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Surefoot Stout is back for 2010 and is a robust, malt-driven ale combining four Australian and imported malts plus flaked barley for a rich mouthfeel. This is a sweet stout, not the traditional dry, Irish stout we all know. We use English East Kent Goldings hops to balance the burnt roasty malt characters. Overall, it’s chocolately, espresso – but rich and full, 5% alc/vol. If you’re lucky, you may even catch Stout in Randy with coffee beans – beer and coffee – what’s not to love?

UPDATED: SEP 3, 2021 Rating from old records. Had alongside 4 Pines Stout in tap battle and it was fairly even in spite of being at opposite ends of the sweet/dry spectrum. Nice roast malt backbone, finishes a touch sweet.

Can at Glass Tartines & Tipples, KL. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee and dark chocolate along with caramel and toffee notes. Flavour is above moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Decent light stout.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2016 Could be a bit blacker. Appears very dark brown. Nice chocolate hints and roast on the nose although could have a lot more. Could also have more body. A bit too thin. However a well rounded average stout

Poured black with a slight brown tinge in the light. A little thin in the mouthfeel and not enough roast flavours for me but a reasonable stout.

A good stout, a bit on the thin side though. A good session beer on a cool Melbourne winter’s night nonetheless.

Can at Taps Beer Bar Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin tan head and a little broken lace. The aroma is roasty malt, light smoke. The flavour is moderate smoked malt, liqourice with a smooth, slightly watery light chocolate, light dry coffee palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Beertopia 2015. Coffee, bitter roast malt, but on the watery side in body and taste.

375mL can from Slowbeer. BB 07/05/16 Spot on stout - jet black, dense head, solid tan head. Plenty of roasty goodness on the nose; toasted nuts, blackened bread, baked cookies, dark choc, touch of coffee. Full bodied, sort of chewy texture. Dark chocolate sweetness upfront - dark toffee, roast nuts, dark toast, mild roast coffee, bit of earthy hop in the mix. Moderately bitter, smooth finish. Class act - lovely & smooth.
