Commercial Description:
Aeppeltreow Winery's Poirissimo! is made from Comice and Williams pears with a special process that preserves and accents the aromatic nature of both these classic pears. It's sweet, smooth, and super fragrant. Poirissimo! is truly Very Very Pear!

Sampled at the winery near Burlington, Wisconsin. Pours a clear and syrupy chardonnay color cider with a clean disk top and some heavy alcohol tears. Aroma of some strong floral scents, alcohol, pears, a touch of cantaloupe, and some creme tartar. Taste is full bodied, a little on the syrupy side with a high alcohol character, semi-sweet and dry pears and a little mellon. Finish continues the high alcohol presence with a nice floral and pear aftertaste. A little heavy on the alcohol that I am used to but definitely a strong dessert cider.

375mL bottle, Bottling 2005.43 (March 12th, perhaps?). Clear amber with no head--completely still. Took about 20 seconds for the legs to finally make it down to the liquid below. Even though there’s no apple in here, I can still smell it. Also plenty of sweet pears as well, and fruit blossoms. Despite smelling pretty darn sweet, there is some alcohol in the background that dries out the aroma a little bit. Plenty of alcohol burn in this one, and I was right--the alcohol does help this finish almost semi-dry. Backing up a bit, this is pretty intensely sweet with more pears and apples--not really the fruit blossoms any more. The alcohol seems a bit strong and the sweetness is a little too much as well. Full body--though not quite as syrupy as I would’ve thought. This started out very well, but the flavor was a bit of a disappointment.
