A fascinating beer. Sour and cherry and still more sourness. Very nice all round. A lot going on here. A little on the lambic side.

Love this beer. Deep reddish brown. Plenty of cherry’s in the aroma with some fruit cake as the beer opened up. More of the same in the taste department with plenty of cherries and some sourness. Great beer

This is a fantastic beer. Aromas of fresh cherries, over-ripe banana peel, caramel malt with sweet chocolate after (someone from the US mentioned Cherry Coke). Look of distilled cherries - like red wine in your beer with a big frothy peach cream head. The taste is a big surprising gust of everything: bitter molasses or burnt treacle / green banana peel, sweeeeet malt and a burst of lactic sourness (Morello cherries / granny smith apples / cider) which all fades quickly into a long clean dry finish. Yeast sediment lessens sourness with sweetness? Feels drying with a smooth medium body, mild carbonation - a meaty chewiness... This would be great as an aperitif, with salty snacks, BBQ, crispy savouries, hot summer’s day.

Wow, this beer exceeded my expectations! Pours a beautiful deep rust red with a fair bit of coarse sediment. Head is light sienna, long lived, and lacy. Initial aromas out of the bottle were solid chocolate and stewed cherries/plums. After breathing for a bit some lovely buttery spicecake filled the nose. Palate has a spicy chocolate entry, then beautiful rounded stewed cherry fruits close the show. Sweet and spicy with a slightly sour/tart finish. Medium bodied with a velvety mouthfeel. As a fruit beer, this approaches perfection for me! Emerson’s you’ve done it again!

...bottle. Poured a dark reddish brown with a tan head that lasted all the way down. On the nose was shitloads of great cherry notes, cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate. Flavors were mainly the same with dark malt, dried fruit, and brown sugar. Lots of sediment which always enhances the flavor. Medium bodied, creamy consistancy. FInished dry with lots of cherry flavor, and the chocolate notes. I was very impressed.

Dark red in colour with thin white head. Fruit cake aroma. Cinammon/choclate flavours with sour finish.

Clear cherry red body with off-white head. Sugary aroma with only a little cherry coming through. Cherry taste is only slightly sour, some almonds in there as well.

500ml bottle, vintage Dec 08 Served chilled in chalice. Reasonable pour, small creamy orange tan head atop a murky brownish ruby body laden with chunks. Quite a complex nose, particularly odd though; cinnamon, wood, sour cherry, vinegar, prune, pure cocoa, vinous dried fruit with a mollassesy maltiness about it. Low carbonation, body is reasonably lean, syrupy slightly, quite a tart vinegar-like sourness that blends with the brown sugary sweetness of the beer. Sour cherry seems most prominant on the body, quite sweet, candy-like at times, brown sugar, almond, earthy spice, prune and date leads onto a woody cinamon note on the finish. Finish lingers slightly, dry with a cherry pip sourness and flavour. Very unique brew. Really not sure what to make of it, but its certainly adventerous, complexly tasty, and well worth a try.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2008 Pours ruby tending auburn with substantial pink blush coloured head. Nose displays cherries, chocolate and a hint of woodiness...maybe. Palate is dominated by sour cherries up front with darker malts coming into play to add balance and complexity. (very cherry ripe-like) Finish is faintly tart with a surprising degree of hop bitterness. Damn good effort!
