UPDATED: JAN 9, 2024 Bottle. A- Smoke, wood, peat, old leather. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Smoke, umami, wood, molasses, leather, faint espresso. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, robust finish. O- Wow, this was awesome stuff. Wish I could find so much more. Drank with around 4 years of age I believe and the balance was perfect. Very smoke forward but I love that, for some probably too aggressive. Probably not a perfect beer but for the flavor and the setting it was drank it, it was pretty perfect to me.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2023 Bottle at Monk's: pours black with brown head. Aroma is peaty, roasty, burnt, soy sauce. Taste is umami, smoke, fire. This is a very intense beer. I like it. But it is intense. 2016 bottle... good for 25 years.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2023 2016 vintage. Aged 7 years. Incredibly intense nose of smoke oak. Peat,dark dried fruit roasted malts not really any head to speak of The little foam that did come up was a medium brown. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied not very cloying with a decent smoky finish. Kind of sweet, very smoky. Quite nice.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2022 An excellent imperial stout. I’m surprised I haven’t rated this beer before, since I remember drinking it years ago. This bottle was aging for 2 years. Tons of sweet licorice, a healthy dollop of milk chocolate. Delish.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2022 Pitch black colour with small dark brown head, aroma of coffee roast, peat, soy sauce. Taste is quite sweet, quite bitter, strong coffee roast, peat, smoke, dark chocolate, plum, umami. This is quite a unique stout, very rich, different from the other, but always in a good way. UPDATED: JUN 5, 2022 Bottle from Daily Delis, Amsterdam. Cloudy black, stable, foamy, dark beige head. Aroma of beef jerky, soy sauce, black olive, burnt wood, toast, fondant, coffee bean. Taste has sweetish prune & pear in a dark-chocolatey, toasty, nutty malt body with a bitter coffee note and an earthy-umami, smoked-meaty side. Earthy hoppy finish, toasty, quite roasted, lingering salty-smoky meat, tobacco and soft peated whisky-like alcohol. Full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Rich, expressive and elegantly peated.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2022 Pours a three-finger brown head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights, some yeast left in bottle. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Nose is a smoky caramel. Flavor has sweetness with caramel, chocolate. Higher ABV, 10%, not noticeable. Bottled Dec 3, 2016. $6.89 for 330ml bottle from Beverage Warehouse, Winooski, VT.
