Brugs Tripel Ale 9° Straffe Hendrik is a genuine "Brugean Tripel" from Bruges. It has a full bodied taste with rich hints of malt, caramel and hops. The local specialty of "Bruges Tripel" used to be brewed by many breweries in the city though, currently, Straffe Hendrik is the only authentic "Bruges Tripel" brewed in Bruges. Straffe Henrik is brewed with a subtle blend of 6 malts. It is hopped extensively with the best quality Saaz and Styrian Golding hops. Refermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that guarantees a longer natural shelf life and an evolution of taste. Brugean Tripels are amber tripels using more roasted malts which makes them distinct from any other tripels. The Halve Maan Brewery is currently the only active brewery in the historical city of Bruges, The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has had the brewery. (from label) Our Tripel is one of the Tripels with the most character in our rich Belgian market of beers. The beer is strong and full-bodied. The tripel has an alcohol percentage of 9% and the refermentation in the bottle generates a long natural shelf life. Flavour Caramel taste flows into bitterness, with the aftertaste comes a subtle hint of banana in combination with citrus fruits. Colour Clear amber blond. Aroma/taste: barley, bread, sugar, light fruits, light brown sugar, light alcohol, light oranges and light spicy notes. Palette: Strong yeasty aroma, average to light sparkling carbonation, medium to full body, medium to notable sweetness, somewhat balanced by a medium bitterness, average duration, light dry finish and a watery texture.
