The pour is thick and dark brown/black with a small brown head. The aroma is chocolate, mocha, kalua, maple syrup, and a touch of green apple. The flavor... Wow! this is thick and sweet. Maple syrup lends a nice, complementary touch. Otherwise sweet milk chocolate takes the forefront. A little coffee. Unfortunately, I’m still picking up a little green apple which puts it off slightly. The finish however is much more complex with the strong roasted quality taking over followed by some burnt wood and a nice balancing bitterness. A real pleasure to try this beer! cbkschubert (2005), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Handbottle via trade with StFun - Pours a dark brown color with no head or lacing. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is sweetened coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. There is a hint of vanilla in the finish. Medium body. Besides the lack of carbonation (probably do to the handbottling), this is a pretty nice coffee stout. Thanks Josh. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Complex dark roast coffee aromas are well layered over swirls of vanilla-maple oak and black chocolate cream. Soft burnt coffee, bittersweet chocolate and sweet maple fudge flavors rest on a light wooden foundation from start to finish. Medium bodied and smooth, cask-like carbonation, sweet maple coffee finish. This seriously needs to be considered for future bottling as a seasonal… BuckeyeBoy (1672), Boise, Idaho, USA

I can’t imagine having one at the ass-crack of dawn, but maybe the first one of the day. Coffe and maple syrup flavors make the breakfast angle.
