Restrained floral aroma in a light gold pour. Combines the hop forward balance of an IPA with the crisp clean body of a Pilsner. What’s not to like? A very tasty brew that nicely showcases its premium ingredients, inspired recipe, and talented implementation. Well worth resurrection.

Aroma is refesh with mild sweetness and small hop character. Colour golden with slight orange tint. Good solid malty flavour, with both earthy and fruity hop flavour following. Good body and mouth feel.

Rating is for the December ’09 Brewers Reserve re-brew. Pours a golden amber, white head. Aroma is kinda grainy, honeyish malt and lemony hops with a bit of grass. A well balanced flavour of (again) honeyish malt, lemony hops and a mild bitterness which rounds it all out.
All of the above make this a great summer session beer, shame it’s been chopped from the lineup.

Rating from memory after many pints of this at various venues. I was sad to see this retired because it was a solid go to beer of mine when i wanted a refreshing ale. Looks great in the glass has a great floral zesty hop aroma my only complaint has always been it’s body....a little bit thin

Bottle, pours a clear amber with a large foamy white head. The aroma combines flowery hop and grainy malt. Quite a smooth palate with just enough crispness and dryness. The Maris Otter malt teaming up well with the flowery and bitter hops. Has got better since I would have last tasted this years ago.

Another rich, flavoursome ale from one of Australasia’s best brewers. Brewed with British Maris Otter barley, this packs a lot of punch for a golden ale. I found it too intense to be sessionable, but that’s personal taste. As always with Emersons’ brews, it presented well in the glass with a tall head that left reefs of lace. Quite a herbal aroma - faint echoes of Orval, as Bridge observed. Also Weetbix, cider apples and rusty nails in a tart olfactory package. Soft mouthfeel. Lots of passionfruit tartness on the tongue, plus pineapple and salt before a big, phlegmy finish. Not their best work but well made. (500ml bottle from Scenic Cellars, Taupo. BB May 08)

Bottle at KØ07. Good dusty hop aroma. Hazy copper colour. The flavour also has a nice hoppiness with a hint of tea. Rubbery mouthfeel.

Loved the orangy colour in the glass. Nicely balanced hops and malt. Delicious lingering flavour. Note: tasted from tap at Galbraiths in Auckland - early 2006 (writing this one from memory).

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with a small white head. Sweet malty and fruity hoppy aroma. Sweet malty fruity bitter flavor with some hoppy hints. Sweet malty finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.
