| | | Copper Creek Smoked Porter | 4.2 | Hank1980 | | | Another gem from Matt. Poured a beautiful brown with a nice beige head. Aroma is deliciously roasted and burnt, some earthy peat also noted. Really nice. Taste is a great mix of caramel, burnt roasted malt, and light hop finish. Really easy to drink; my pint disappeared quickly. Overall, an excellent brew. | | | | Saint Arnold Divine Reserve #9 | 4.1 | ansermadide | | | What a loud head! Medium brown head with a fastly falling, slippery lacing. Dark brown, practically black color with mohagany hues. Looks thin. Tiny bubbles bursting at the surface. Aroma of pumpkin spice, nutmeg, possibly cinnamon, maybe clove. Spiced fo sho! No hiding that! Flavor is, no doubt, of a stout, but I wouldn’t guess an imperial initially (although after 12oz you can tell). Spice is in your face with a near-puckery experience of clove. This really is a number! Pumpkin is hidden somewhat, but wow... The spices are fantastic! I wish I came up with this recipe... | | | | Founders Breakfast Stout | 4.2 | Bullit | | | Draft at brewery. Pitch black colour, tan head. Aroma has lots of roasted malts and roasted coffee. Flavour of roasted malts, bitter coffee and chocolate. The roastiness is particulary nice. | | | | Founders Double Trouble IPA | 4.2 | Frovigalning | | | It poured a hazy golden liquid with a small white foam. Taste and smell of hops, and sweet malt and caramell. Very nice! | | | | Founders Double Trouble IPA | 4.1 | gyllenbock | | | Bottle.
Nice and cloudy orange color. The foam was white and compact.
The aroma was sweet and wonderfully fruity, especially pineapple. Also some grass and raisins.
First sip was heavily bitter, the beer had glorious amounts of hops. Nice balance and smooth to drink. A lot of grapefruits and pineapple in the taste. Some nuts in the bitter aftertaste. The body was medium, good carbonation. Sympathetic beer. | | | | Russian River Blind Pig IPA | 4.1 | radagast83 | | | 3001 - no, not the book, but my rating number.
Anyway, this beer was fantastic. Even upon opening I could smell a wonderful bouquet of floral hops and sweet malts. Pours a golden orange color with a fluffy, moderately fast, was probably my pour. Later pours rendered a small white head. Aroma is grassy, malty, with a wonderful, but not overpowering hop hit. Flavor is a nice balance of citrus, pine, and malts. Easy to drink, and unfortunately not easy to get hold of here. | | | | Otter Creek Imperial India Pale Ale | 4.1 | fidelis83 | | | Pours a slightly hazy amber with a 2 finger fuzzy beige head that has great retention and leaves a few specs of lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus, light pine, light toast, some fruity/berry notes and nice french bread crust. Flavor is sweet malt up front, grainy notes, pineapple, citrus, orange rind, grapefruit, light caramel and some brown sugar. Finish is grapefruit, bitter, burnt sugar and toasty grain, bitter grapefruit and berry fade. Notable ethanol comes out throughout the flavor profile as it warms. Palate is heavy bodied with a pretty creamy feel throughout and a light, velvety carbonation, very nice. Really good stuff overall, pretty bitter, not sure about the 135IBU’s but it is damn bitter. It could use some brighter citrus or floral notes to back up that bitterness. | | | | Breakwater Cascade Pale Ale | 4.2 | wetherel | | | Orange color. Lasting tight head. Great hoppy aroma and hop flavor, with low hop bitterness. Very easy to drink. Excellent. | | | | Nørrebro Little Korkny Ale (Niepoort Barrel) | 4.3 | bierkoning | | | Bottle, brought to Bodegraven by Jeppe, enjoyed @ home. Dark brown color. Porto, raisin and vanilla in the rich aroma. Extremely full bdoied, thick on the tongue. The essence of dried fruit, raisin, malt, molasses and vanilla fudge in the flavor. Hardly imaginable this is a beer. Rich, flavorful, strong and delicious. | | | | Cigar City Capricho Oscuro (Batch 2) | 4.3 | GG | | Another world class beer thanks to daknole. I really could drink this one all night. It has most, if not all, of the wonderful things that make a barrel aged beer great. Chocolatey caramel whiskey goodness permeates the aroma with a touch of pipe tobacco. More chocolate, whiskey, caramel, vanilla, oaky notes with a perfect balance of woody oak. Really such a phenomenal beer, it would be a crime if this were available in California on a regular basis. I don’t know how you guys in Florida survive.
Bottle #375 / 450 | | | | Deschutes Lost Barrels of Mirror Mirror | 4.1 | boFNjackson | | | Holiday Ale Festival... This very special, unblended version of Mirror Mirror poured deep amber with a tan head. Rich, boozy, nutty, and malt aroma. Creamy palate. Sweet with pure sugar cane flavors. Strong vanilla and a solid alcohol warmth. Barrel notes like oak and whiskey. Astringent, boozy finish. | | | | Cascade Drie Zwarte Pieten Sang Noir | 4.3 | boFNjackson | | | Holiday Ale Festival... Poured reddish/ruby with a thin, tan head. Wonderful nose of candy sugars and light fruits. Insanely dry -- the must puckering beer I’ve had from Cascade -- Malty with a fresh cherry fruit flavor. Barrel aged notes, but not too bourbon-y. Definitely one of Ron’s finest. | | | | Hair of the Dog Jim III 2008 | 4.3 | boFNjackson | | | [Vintage] Holiday Ale Festival... Poured brownish with no head. Tart, sour and yeasty aroma. Creamy and malty with fruits, black pepper, and that quintessential HotD character. Sweet, nicely spiced for the holidays. | | | | Saint Arnold Divine Reserve #9 | 4.4 | Fratto | | | On tap at the Fort Worth Gingerman. Black pour with some rosy edges and a creamy white head. Aroma is cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, pumpkin, malts, and roasted nuts. Very thick and spicy. Toast, pumpkin, cinnamon, alcohol, and spices. At 11%, it’s really warming, but the alcohol presence is just right and not overbearing. | | | | Hair of the Dog Adam | 4.2 | killjoy966 | | | Wow, this is one hell of a beer. Big bold smoky flavor, kind of like applewood, or something. Smells a little sweet like there’s maple syrup. Finishes with a hearty bitterness and coats the inside of my mouth which lingers long after the liquid is gone. This is a great beer. | |

and a nice herbal hoppy presence in the aroma. Soft hay and grains greet the tongue, followed by a touch of honeybread and earthy hops right along side it; finish is a bit on the hoppy side. Clean, crisp, but still full of flavor; both malt and hops are strong,
