A simple pale ale with straightforward taste, for the philosopher pirates.
½ pound 20L Crystal Malt 3 Pounds Light DME, 3 pounds Extra Light DME Centennial Hops Bittering (60 minutes) Cascade Hops Flavor (15 minutes) Cascade (5 minutes) Wyeast 1056 yeast (American Ale)
Steep crystal malt in 2.5 gallons of water at 150 degrees (F) for 45 minutes, then remove grains. Bring to boil and add DME and 1 oz. Centennial. Boil for one hour, adding 1 oz. cascade hops at 45 and 55 minutes, as noted. When cooled, top off to five gallons and pitch Wyeast 1056 American Ale yeast or equivalent.
