Zombie Dust Clone
By jsquire

This is my Zombie Dust clone. It has produced a nice, citra focused beer.
6 lb. Briess CBW Pilsen Light DME 1 lb. Munich 10L .5 lb caramel 20L .5 Carapils (the internet recipe called for Carafoam) .5 lb. Weyerman Melanoid 8 oz. Citra (hopping schedule below) Safale S-04 dry yeast 1 t. Irish Moss
My home brew store crushed the Munich et al. and I steeped them for 30 minutes at about 155 degrees in about 2.5 gallons of water (I use Kroger Drinking water because I’m afraid to use the tap water for some reason.) Meantime I have my boiling kettle with 2 gallons of water warming up. When the grains are done steeping I pull out the muslin back and dump the water into the big pot and bring to a boil. At boil I add the DME. This is the first beer I’ve done with FWH. Here is the hop schedule. 1 oz. in the boiling kettle when the water is still cold FWH 1 oz. after 45 minute boil 1 oz. after 50 1 oz. after 55 1 oz. at flame out 3 oz. dry hop in the secondary I use a wort chiller to cool down the wort. I added some water and ended up with about 4.5 gallons in the fermenter with OG of 1.066. I just dumped in the dry yeast straight into the bucket. That batch was in the fermenter 14 days, dry hopped nine days, and bottled with 2/3 cup priming sugar. FG 1.012
