rlgk (3028), Motala, Sweden Jul 10, 2006 Quite nice golden color with a white head. Sweet aroma with some alcohol. Flavor is no fresh at all and with too much alcohol. This is so disappoiting since I liked the 5,2-version of this beer. But it seems Åbro and some other brewiries alwways have to go for alcohol so much more than flavor...

Looks like an OK ale - almost brown, and with a small moldy head. Sweet peachy aroma, bock-like malts too. Pleasant carbonation, creamy feel to the palate. Taste is quite amazing, not necessarily in an entirely good way. It’s three-pronged. At first there’s a double-whammy of some punchy prickly alcohol bitterness combined with an absurdly sweet zingy fruity children’s chewy sweet with fake fruit flavours. Together it’s a bit like a weak lemon vodka. Once you’ve got over that, there’s a more sensible sticky malty taste and some slightly harsh hoppy bitterness, and also something that’s a bit like mold. Maybe they had a lemon merangue pie that went a bit furry, and they just threw it in the vat hoping as that was closer than the bin. Finish is slightly acrid hops. Hard to call this one, as I’ve never had anything like it. I expect my rating to waver by a few tenths as I go down the glass... Papsoe (10285), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 28, 2007 (Can 50 cl) Clear, deep golden with a white head, leaving some lacework. Aroma of malt and alcohol. Solid body with a sweetish malt base and a somewhat raw and bitter hopping in the finish that also contains quite some alcohol. Hmm.. am I drinking the same beer the others are? 1.84 average is a bit of an understatement I would say. I had this in my fridge for months as I wasn’t very encouraged to open it considering the reviews. Now that I’m having it, it’s got nice full foamy mouthfeel, malts, very crisp hoppiness!, fresh and hides the alcohol very well. Not too sweet by any means. Urquell style hoppiness with bitter aftertaste. Anyhow, too strong alcohol % for a pils like this, altho it’s surprisingly fresh considering. SamGamgee (585), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 2, 2007 50cl can. rich gold color with big, foamy head. very sweet malty aroma. Alcoholic and sweet taste, but somewhat of a balance of hop in there, just enough to make this the most balanced and drinkable of the 7%+ swedish lager types that ive had from the system so far. Maria (4344), Thisted, Denmark Aug 4, 2007 Warm golden with an Ok head. The aroma has notes of malt and alcohol. The flavour has notes of malt, flower, light bitterness and a bit of alcohol. It’s really boring, but drinkable. 1887
