dkachur (620), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham. Pours a reddish brown with a medium head. Moderate retention and good lacing. Big sweet, floral hop aroma. Oily, citrus, pine hops taste. A little too vegetal but still nice.
Jonte (315), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 12, 2008 Bottle at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Gothenburg. Orange color with an off-white head. Aroma of hops, grape, sweet malt, exotic fruit and grass. The taste is hoppy, but not extreme. Notes of grape, pine, caramel, strawberries, exotic fruit, grass and a bit of alcohol. Hoppy, but also very sweet and malty. Creamy and full bodied. cellar (261), Dublin, Ireland Jul 11, 2008 Dark amber, notes of hops, grapefruit, flowers, nice bitter, short bitter finish. SuperDave70 (641), Arizona, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium foamy off-white head. Hoppy pine, citrus, and floral aroma. Sweet well balanced malt and hop flavor. Big grapefruit finish. Very good! MadMan (470), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bottle. Now that I know it’s retired I’m glad I picked up more than 1 of these. Pours a hazy amber orange with a small off white head. Aroma is strong and full of hops, spanning the array from herbal to citrus. Flavor comes in shockingly sweet after such a lovely aroma. Malt laced with honey along with caramel, pineapple, and citrus. Mouthfeel can only be described as sticky. Since I won’t likely find anymore of these we’ll see how the remaining bottles hold up so I’ll save one for a while. Good DIPA though it seems to me to need more bitterness to offset a sticky sweetness to be truly outstanding. JFURYCAT (701), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 28, 2008 Bottle from NEPA case split club. My heart sank when I saw this is a retired beer. For the incredible bittery hop content this is pretty well balanced by the malt quotient and has a rather bready yeasty flavor on top of a fruity prune-like banana-esque flavor. There is a nice alcohol bite within the fruit and some floral qualities. Thank you Josh for organizing the split and Kevin and Lindo for picking this up.
