Jeppe (2636), Ølbutikken, Denmark Mar 15, 2007 Dark brown color, small light brown head. Mild sweet smoked aroma with some roasted malt and chocolate - nice but a tad weak. More smokey in the flavor with a sweet chocolaty base. A bit of hop is noticeable as well and the finish is quite long and chocolaty. I have to say, another highly drinkable beer from Ølfabrikken, the smoke is well integrated still evident.
JMFG (1173), Florida, USA Sep 3, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Near black chestnut brown color, a little bit of white head present. Super smoky aroma, slightly meaty, but a lot of char also. Smooth roasty start, a ton of smoke, evens out on the dry finish. A very nice smoked. SoLan (1187), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Courtesy ChzMan. Dark brown with a bit of tan foam. Huge smoke in the aroma- full spectrum- savory to acrid, some faint malt in there, also. Flavor adds some bittersweet chocolate maltiness to the same intense smoke. Medium body, just smoother than balanced, easy drinking. Solid. TheCheeseMan (513), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Aug 24, 2008 Courtesy Papsoe, thanks again. Pours a charred, deep chestnut brown. Aroma is intense, with the smoke leading the charge. There are some nice roasted notes, along with some chocolate. The flavor is brutishly smoked, but oddly enough, not over the top. Excellent beer. bierkoning (4933), La Tropica, Netherlands Aug 17, 2008 Swing top bottle from thewolf, thanks! Almost black colored. Beechwood smoke aroma with pineapple. Malty, sweetish flavor with licorice and beechwood smoke. Some dark chocolate. Rich, smoky brew. Tasty, interesting and satisfyingly balanced.
